31¢ Ice Cream Scoops at Baskin Robbins Tonight (April 30th) between 5pm and 10pm

It must be ice-cream season! (Still a bit cold here for ideal ice cream weather, but...) Fresh on the heels of the Ben & Jerry's Birthday, Baskin Robbins answers with a 31 cent ice cream scoop night. It's tonight, April 30th from 5:oo to 10:00.

The event is in honor of America's firefighters, and at most locations you'll also have the opportunity to make a donation to local fire charities.

2.5 oz. scoops are reduced to 31 cents, and there's a limit of 10 per person.

Here's a link to the promotion. You can find nearby locations by using their 'find a store' link at the top.

Enjoy!

And this one doesn't require membership: if you can match up the dates right, you could do a roundtrip between Atlantic City and Tampa for just 36 cents! Yes, I wrote cents!!! (Even 36 dollars would be great, but cents?)

Atlantic City to Tampa dates with an 18-cent fare are:

Tampa to Atlantic City 18-cent dates are:

2GB MicroSD Card - $11.95 - with Adapter for Use as Regular SD Card as Well

Update April 29th - Yesterday they had a Dane-Elec on sale for $10 with free shipping but today I checked at buy.com and the price has already gone back up, and no more free shipping - that was a quick sale! But if you do need one of these, I found a sale on the Kingston brand 2GB microSD with adapter + free shipping for $11.95. If you want to check that one out, click here.

Here's a nice price on a 2GB card that gives a little flexibility so it can be useful for different kinds of devices. Buy.com is offering the Dane-Elec 2GB microSD card for the nice low price of $10, with free shipping as well.

The microSD size can fit some very small electronics that require the micro size, but it also comes with an adapter that is the size of a regular SD card for devices that need a full-size SD card. This might add to its flexibility as you buy more gadgets it the future and maybe have a need for the other size.

Restaurant.com Promotion Code for 70% Off! ($25 dining certificate for $3) - Use Ebates for Extra 15% Savings

Restaurant.com has their latest promo code going, this time for a whopping 70% off the price of a certificate. From my time of following these, 70% is the highest discount they offer and this happens once or twice a year at best. So you may want to take advantage of it when you can.

The code is valid if you buy certificates for restaurants individually or also if you buy their dinner-of-the-month club where you get a number of certificates and they add in a bonus certificate so you get an even better deal in the end.

If you use Ebates to get to the site, there's also 15% extra cash back.

The promo code is at the end of this post, but here's an explanation of restaurant.com for those of you who haven't tried it.

You purchase certificates which entitle you to $25 off your dining check at a participating restaurant. The regular price for these certificates is $10, but now would drop to $3 with the promo code. The caveat is that the certificates generally have some restriction as to the minimum purchase (often you have to have a bill of $35 before you can apply a certificate), number of entrees etc.

Still, if you do the math, if you have a bill of $35 and use the certificate of $25, you pay just $10 at the restaurant. Add in the $3 cost of the certificate, and your $35 meal cost you $13. Tipping would be about $7 (you should tip on the pre-certificate price of the bill) and there may be taxes, but in the end, you are getting a nice dinner for less than half price.

The certificates are typically good for a year, and you are restricted to using no more than one at the same restaurant per month. (You can use several certificates a month at different restaurants but can't come back to the same place with a certificate till a month later). So if you spot a favorite restaurant on the list, you can use an opportunity like this to buy a few certificates.

It's a great way to try a new restaurant or go back to a favorite that you haven't visited as often.

They also have $10 value certificates at some restaurants, which are usually valid at lunch time. These usually go for $3.00 so right now they are just 90 cents. These typically have minimum purchase requirements of $15 or $20.

Restaurant.com also has some dining clubs where you get certificates you can redeem once a month at your choice of participating restaurants, and sometimes they throw in a bonus certificate for signing up. If you want to apply this promo code to one of those memberships and get an even better savings (because of the bonus certificate), the promo code is valid on those as well.

And finally, there's even one MORE way to save on these. If you use Ebates to link into restaurant.com and order, you get back 15% for your restaurant.com order! That means if you order 6 $25 certificates and use the promo code, you'd be charged just $18 total and then get $2.70 of that back into your Ebates account. For those of you who haven't signed up at Ebates, I have a link in the left column (and just signing up gets them to put $5 into your account).

The promo code this time is GOURMET and it's valid for certificates bought until April 30th.

Check out their list of restaurants and take advantage of the savings! Click here.

Bennigan's Cash Crunch Lunch Offer - Ten Menu Choices Plus Beverage, at $4.99

If you have a Bennigan's near your place of work and want to save a bit on lunch, here's an offer that they'll be running until June 16th, from 11am to 2pm: the Cash Crunch Lunch. They have ten lunch choices, some with fries and others with soup that you can get for just $4.99, with a soft drink included.

The choices run the gamut from a half-pound Angus cheeseburger with fries, to charbroiled chicken with rice pilaf and broccoli, to a Caesar salad plus a crock of soup. All of them include your choice of a fountain drink, iced tea, coffee or bottled water.

The sandwiches that come with fries include:
- The American Burger: the aforementioned half-pound Angus burger
- Grilled Chicken Club: chicken breast topped with bacon, swiss and slices of avocado.
- Turkey O' Toole: turkey breast, melted swiss cheese and honey dijon on a pretzel roll
- Monte Cristo: ham and turkey, swiss and american cheese on wheat bread, battered and fried. Dusted with powdered sugar and served with red raspberry preserves for dipping.

The following sandwiches come with a soup (soups include tomato basil, French onion and maybe a potato soup):
- Turkey Deli Sandwich - turkey, lettuce, tomato, onion and cheddar on wheat berry bread.
- Irish Grilled Cheese - Irish cheddar and provolone cheeses melted on wheat berry bread.

Other lunch choices include:
- Golden Chicken Tenders with french fries and honey dijon dip
- Kilkenney's Grilled Chicken Salad - Grilled chicken over garden greens, diced eggs, shredded colby, tomatoes, bacon with honey dijon dressing
- Soup and Salad Comb0 - choice of garden salad or Caesar salad and a crock of soup
- Chicken Platter Lunch - fajita-marinated chicken breast charbroiled over an open flame, served with rice pilaf and steamed broccoli

Prices may vary by location (I would imagine they might be higher in places like New York City), but they still might be better than running into that fast food joint and better than you'll find in most other restaurants. At the very least it may be an option for a decent lunch without breaking the bank.

New York - Johannesburg, South Africa $993 Roundtrip; Cape Town $942

I saw a notice on South African Airways that they have specials from New York to Cape Town, South Africa for as low as $1,122 roundtrip. They indicate the fares need to be booked by April 30th and are good for travel in June.

Taxes/security/airport fees are additional.

But when I searched the site, I have been finding lower fares than the $1,122 in the promo!

Their site is a bit difficult to search if you want to see various choices on price, since you have to pick your specific flights before they'll give you the fare. But I did some searching for June trips from JFK to Johannesburg, using Tuesday June 10th for the departure and the 24th as the return. With flights SA204 and 203 it returned a fare of $993 plus taxes/fees ($308.28).

I used the same dates to search for JFK to Cape Town and even though you're flying to Johannesburg and then on to Cape Town, the base fare is lower. It's $942 plus taxes/fees ($383.48) again using Flights SA204 and 203 (SA365 and 342 take your to/from Cape Town).

So even though their site is noting flights from $1,122, it's obvious that they have some lower fares available. If you are thinking at all about a trip to South Africa, you might want to spend some time on their site and see what deals you might find.

Here's the link to South Africa Airways.

7-Night Mediterranean Cruise from $699 (Barcelona Roundtrip)

Thinking of a European vacation soon? Want to make it even more spectacular? Why not incorporate a Mediterranean cruise? That way you get to see a few different cities, eat wonderfully, relax when you want, and even save some money on hotel bills (with the dollar/euro where they are, that's not such a bad consideration). Travelocity has an offer on the Norwegian Gem, sailing roundtrip from Barcelona, with rates as low as $699 a person.

The itinerary includes Valetta, Malta; Naples, Italy; Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy; Livorno (Florence), Italy; Villefranche (Nice), France; and back to Barcelona.

The $699 price is for the June 22nd sailing, inside cabin. You may want to do an outside cabin, which is also available at a very special price of $849. An $849 rate for an outside cabin is also available on the June 15th sailing.

They have other nice prices throughout the year, including some low-cost oceanview upgrades -- July 20th outside is $1019, just $10 higher than the inside cabin $1009 and August 3rd has just a $30 difference of $1199 compared to $1169.

There's an onboard savings booklet included, although I can't find details on what it includes. But the real savings are already there on the price of the cruise.

So if you'd like to check out whether making your European vacation a cruise event is for you, click here.

Europe and a cruise... what a nice combination!

Alaska 7-Night Cruise Balcony Stateroom $849

All the people I know who've cruised to Alaska rave about the beauty and majesty they see. If you're looking for an Alaskan cruise and want to have a beautiful view, a balcony-view would be nicer than an inside cabin, no? So how about a balcony stateroom at $849 a person? That's 45% off the regular rate. And if you add a third or fourth person to the room they're just $149 each!

All Aboard Travel has this deal, with sailings on the Norwegian Sun May 18th and May 25th. They also have excellent prices for sailings into June. Free travel insurance is included if you book by April 30th.

The Norwegian Sun departs from Vancouver, cruises the Inside Passage, stops at Ketchikan, Juneau, cruises Sawyer Glacier, stops at Skagway and returns through the Inside Passage to Vancouver.

$1 Airfare Fort Lauderdale to/from Orlando, Tampa and the Bahamas -- Some Other Sales Too But Nothing Else Eye-popping...

This is for my readers down in Florida, mainly. Spirit Airlines has another one of their promotions when they slash airfare down to $1 on certain city-pairs on specific dates. 8GB USB Flash Drive $19.99 After Rebate -- with ReadyBoost Capability for Vista

Here's the latest deal I've come across for a USB flash drive - an 8GB stick made by PNY on sale at J&R.com for $44.99 with a $25 rebate, making it just $19.99. That would be an excellent price for a 4GB stick, so for 8GB this is outstanding.

For people with Vista on their PCs, this also provides the capability to add ReadyBoost to your system, which allows your system to use the memory on the stick to speed up processing and multitasking, making your system more responsive and quicker.

Shipping is $2.95 on this item by parcel post.

The rebate is only good for purchases made until April 15th, so if you're thinking about this one, you need to move fast.

Click on this link to take a look.

DVD Collections of the Godfather or Indiana Jones for $21.37 with Free Shipping; Die Hard Collection $12.82

If you're a fan of the Godfather, Indiana Jones or the Die Hard series of films, here's a chance to get the full collections at a nice discount. Barnes & Nobles has a nice way to combine a couple of coupon savings to score a great low price with free shipping if you use a Visa card. You can get the complete Godfather series for $21.37, or the Indiana Jones series for $21.37, or the Die Hard series for $13 after all the savings. Along with free shipping! Without the coupons the Godfather series would be $49.99 plus shipping, so you're saving a lot off the regular price.

You have to start at this link.

That activates a 5% off savings and free shipping when using a Visa card. Then you go to the search box and type in the Godfather DVD Collection and DVD - Title in the two search boxes, and it will show the sale price of $29.99 from $49.99. So the 5% savings would knock it down to $28.49. Then during checkout, you can enter the coupon code A8P8N9P and that will take another 25% off, making the final total $21.37. Note that this code requires a new account/e-mail address to be entered.

If you want the Indiana Jones DVD Collection, you would enter those words in the search box and the same savings codes would get the $21.37 final price.

For the Die Hard Collection, just enter the words Die Hard in the first search box and DVD - Title in the second, and the first choice will show you a sale price dropping it for $29.99 to $17.99. The 5% makes that $17.09 and the 25% off code gets you a final of $12.82 shipped.

You can only use the coupons for one item per account so if you want more than one of these you would need to make multiple accounts.

For fans who want the whole series, these final prices are really a nice way to enjoy great series of films -- and maybe afford to buy some popcorn while you watch them at home!

Vacation Deal Particularly for Families -- Kids Fly Free to Myrtle Beach or Orlando on Southern Skyways!

If you have kids and are looking for ways to create a vacation without denting your wallet too much, you may want to check out a new carrier, Southern Skyways. They serve a lot of Midwest and East Coast cities, and have fares to Myrtle Beach and Orlando starting at $79 each way. But the noteworthy part of this offer is that if you book by April 30th, kids 12 and under can fly free on the Myrtle Beach and Orlando flights.

Each child must be accompanied by an adult. When you're searching, select the number of children from the drop-down menu, and then click the "Children Fly Free" option before submitting your search. The final price will include approximately $50 per-person in taxes and fuel surcharge.

Here's the link to Southern Skyways.

The $79 fare to Myrtle Beach is available from cities such as Scranton PA, Akron OH, Charleston WV. They also have discounts like $109 from Chicago/Rockford. The fares are nice but the kids free option can make it a real family bargain.

Broadway Theatre Offers: Rent, Chicago, A Chorus Line, Curtains, Legally Blonde the Musical, and more...

I just posted a deal from Travelzoo on "Avenue Q" tickets, but Travelzoo has offers for a lot of other Broadway shows as well (plus some off-Broadway). Rather than me trying to figure out just a few specific shows and post the details, I figured I could post the link to the whole Travelzoo list. If you're a Broadway fan and want to check out some shows at a discount, visit this link.

They have some big name shows on, some big stars you can still catch, or some lesser-known shows that might be up your alley.

Right now in addition to the "Avenue Q" offer, they have specials on:
'August: Osage County'
'Rent' with Tamyra Gray
'Curtains' with David Hyde Pierce (2007 Best Actor Tony)
'In The Heights'
'Passing Strange'
'Chicago' with Grammy winner MĂ½a debuting May 11th
'A Chorus Line' with Mario Lopez of 'Dancing with the Stars'
'Legally Blonde the Musical'
'Spring Awakening,' 2007 multiple Tony winner
'The Quantum Eye - Magic Deceptions' for magic fans
'Fuerzabruta' at the Daryl Roth Theater
'Secrets of a Soccer Mom'
'Jackie Mason: The Ultimate Jew'
'Gazillion Bubble Show'
'My First Time'
'Altar Boyz'
'Candide" by the New York City Opera
2 One-Acts by Edward Albee at The Cherry Lane Theatre

Again, here's the link.

If you want to take in a great show (or two), maybe Travelzoo's discount links will make that possible. So in addition to humming some great tunes, you can keep humming about your smart savings!

Tickets to "Avenue Q" on Broadway as Low as $36.50

Thanks to Travelzoo, here is an offer for tickets to "Avenue Q," the Tony-award winner for Best Musical of 2004.

For select midweek performances through June 22, Orchestra and Front Mezzanine (regularly $111.50) are available at $56.50. Rear mezzanine (reg. $66.50) can be had for $36.50. Those performances are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 8pm, Wednesday at 2pm and 8pm and Sunday at 2pm or 7pm.

Friday nights and Saturday matinees (2pm) also have some discounts available, with the top seats discounted to $72.50 and Rear mezzanine down to $46.50.

The musical is a mix of puppets and live performers -- but it's not intended for young children. “Avenue Q” tells the story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad who comes to New York City with big dreams and a tiny bank account. He soon discovers that the only neighborhood in his price range is Avenue Q -- still, the neighbors seem nice. Together, Princeton and his newfound friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purposes in life.

To get these special prices you can click on this link. The promo code AQZQQ47 is already pre-entered on the page, so when you click on 'find tickets' it will indicate the special pricing. Telecharge does add some surcharges to the order.

If you prefer to call by phone, the number is 212-947-8844 and mention the promo code AQZQQ47 to book tickets (the surcharges still apply to phone orders). If you happen to live in New York and can go to the box office, you can print the page at this link and take it to the Golden Theatre to save on surcharges (but I'd go soon since it's a small theatre and these will go quickly).

Nextar X3i Portable GPS with MP3 $109.99

For anyone doing shopping for GPS systems, I've posted a few over the last couple of weeks, and here's one for just a bit more than $100. Buy.com is selling the Nextar X3i GPS with three interchangeable faceplates for $109.99. That's $190 off the original list price, and it's about the lowest straight price I've seen for a GPS other than Black Friday specials.

This unit includes an MP3 player so you can listen to your favorite music with it as well.

This Nextar has a 3.5 inch touch screen display, preloaded maps of 50 U.S. states (in 1GB SD card), 1.6 million points of interest and an address book to store up to 300 addresses. It does turn-by-turn prompts but doesn't have text-to-speech (it tells you where to turn but doesn't pronounce the name of the road). It has a speed alert capability, 2D or 3D map viewing, and Day and Night modes (Night mode features additional light on the screen for easier viewing).

To check out the details and see if this GPS is for you, click the picture.

iRobot Roomba 510 Vacuum Cleaning Robot $159.99

Here's a bit of a niche item, but if you happen to be on the lookout for one of these, it's nice to find it at a better price. Buy.com is offering the iRobot Roomba 510 Vacuum for $159.99, which is way below list price and $90 less than Amazon at the moment.

This is the kind of vacuum that you set up to run on its own so it can take care of a household chore while you're busy doing other things (or not). It can clean three rooms on a single charge, gets into hard-to-reach areas like wall edges and beneath furniture while avoiding stairs and other drop-offs.

The Roomba automatically adjusts from carpets to hard floors and back again. Virtual Wall tells it where to clean by restricting off-limit areas. It detects dirtier areas and spends more time cleaning them, and Spot Clean provides quick clean-up of spills and concentrated messes.

The unit seems to get good reviews, so if you want to check it out and maybe take advantage of the sale, click on the picture below.

Women's Shoes - 3 Pairs for $99 at Smart Bargains

I've posted a few deals on the blog about men's shoes but women's shoes have a much wider variety so it's been difficult to know what's worth posting. Right now, Smart Bargains has an offer of three pairs of women's shoes for $99.

They have over 125 styles from which to choose, with some originally selling for well over $100. There's a variety ranging from casual to elegant, flats to heels, funky to traditional. They have designer names such as Kenneth Cole, Kate Spade, Kors by Michael Kors, Franco Sarto and even Jessica Simpson. Others include Arturo Chiang, Nine West, BCB Girls and Steve Madden.

If you'd like to check out the variety of shoes they're offering, here's the link.

But this is a limited time offer and their quantities on a few pair are already low, so the sooner you check it out the better your chance to find your next favorite three pairs of shoes!

8GB USB Flash Drive -- $13.59!

USB flash drives come in very handy when you need to move files between computers, and this is the lowest price I've seen on one that has 8GB capacity.

Circuit City has the Kingston 8GB DataTraveler on sale for just $13.59. I was reporting this price as a great deal for 4GB drives when I could find them, so getting 8GB is unbelievable.

I would hurry, as these are sure to go quickly.

Here's the link.

American Airlines Fare Sale -- Example: Nashville/Chicago $96 Roundtrip -- Sales on Many Cities

For travel between now and June 25th, American Airlines has launched a sale, with some fares as low as a Nashville-Chicago roundtrip for $96. They also have New Orleans-Dallas for $98 roundtrip. They have a lot of other city pairs discounted, but these two seemed particularly nice.

Travel on May 22 and 23 are blacked out, they require 14 days advance purchase, and security/airport fees are additional.

But if you're looking for a quick trip to see an old friend or visit some family, why not see if the cities involved have some nice deals?

Here's the link.

9-Night Caribbean Cruise from New York City in June from $819 ($954 Oceanview)

For those of you who enjoy long cruises, here's a deal on the Princess Lines sailing from New York City in June. They have 9-night cruises starting at $814 per person. If an oceanview cabin is preferred (and on a long cruise like this it would probably make sense), they have some starting at $954.

Getting a 9-night cruise during peak season for these prices on a major cruise line is uncommon. The itinerary includes stops in Bermuda, San Juan in Puerto Rico, St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Grand Turk, Caicos Islands.

The Caribbean Princess has a outdoor LED screen for poolside movies, 5 pools, putting course, golf simulators and a full-service spa.

The lowest prices are for sailings on June 4th and June 13th.

To see the details and to book, click this link.

Maybe these savings make your dream vacation just a bit more in your reach!

TomTom One GPS $119.99 After Rebate

If you're on the lookout for a basic GPS system by a popular brand name, Office Depot has the TomTom One unit, which retails for $199.99, on sale now for $169.99. In addition, they have a $50 mail-in rebate which makes the final deal a nice $119.99.

The rebate is valid for purchases made until April 12th. Shipping is free as well, so it's a nice deal all around.

The unit has the basic GPS features, and they indicate their satellite augmentation signal improves tracking accuracy. They also have a built-in Help-Me feature to locate nearby emergency services should you have any sort of emergency needs on the road. Unlike the Navigon and Nextar units I listed lately, this GPS does not have text-to-speech capability so it doesn't give you names of the roads, just where to make turns etc. However, for a basic unit, it's not a bad starting point and some people swear by TomTom.

If you want to take a look, click this link.

At the prices of these portable GPS units, there's no excuse for getting lost on the roads anymore!

Magazine Savings: Espn Magazine 97% Off the Cover Price! Us Weekly 97% Off Cover! Outside Magazine 93% Off Cover!

Thanks to Slick Deals, here are some amazing reductions on a couple of magazine if you apply a promo code at Discountmags.com. You can get a year of ESPN Magazine for just $3! The cover price on that is $103.74, so the subscription savings make it cheaper to get a full year than to buy a single issue at a newsstand. For Us Weekly, the cover price for a year would be $156.00 and the regular annual subscription at the site is $79.95, but through this offer you can get it for just $5.00! Amazing! Outside Magazine would run you $47.40 at newsstands, but this offer gets you a year delivered for $3.

If you go to the Discountmags link for ESPN, the site shows their subscriptions are $14.99, but if you use the promo code SD-ESPN, they take $11.99 off during checkout (you enter the code after you enter a billing/delivery address).

Here's the link for Us Weekly. The promo code to enter is SLICKDEALS.

And here's the link for Outside magazine. The applicable code is SD-OUTSIDE.

There's no indication as to how long these codes are valid, so if any of these magazines tickle your fancy or would make a nice gift, I'd jump on them!

So if you want to explore scrapbooking as a way to preserve those memories or commemorate a special event, click here to see the software.

Software to Transfer Your Old VHS Tapes to DVD - Free After Rebate

Technology keeps moving. Many of us built up collections of VHS tapes of old home videos, as well as tapes of films, TV shows etc. As industry switched to DVDs, we had to maintain both a VHS player and a DVD player for newer items. Wouldn't it be nice to transfer the VHS tapes over to DVD format? And wouldn't it be nice if you could get that software virtually free?

Right now, Fry's.com is offering VHS to DVD 3.0 software for $25.00, and there is a $25.00 rebate valid until April 3rd. You do have to pay shipping on this one, which is about $5.00, but that's not a bad overall price for software that lets you streamline your video collection. Imagine all the storage space you can save getting rid of those bulky VHS tapes?

Note: You do need a video-capture card, device or video-capture capability (I believe it's built in with Vista as long as you have a firewire connection) to make this work. So before ordering, check your system capabilities and also your tech know-how to make sure it'll be useful.

Here's a description of software features:

User-friendly interface
Advanced scene editing tools allow you to record movies and easily trim out commercials or unwanted scenes.
Easily add transition effects, titles, and chapters.

Also does music conversion
Revive old music to new digital formats.
Record audio from cassettes, LP records, or video tapes.
Create MP3 files that you can play on MP3 players, PSP, iPod, or PDA devices.
Convert cassette tapes and LP records into audio CDs.
