Mark Your Calendar - National Pancake Day Tuesday, Feb 24th -- Free Short Stack at IHOP

Love pancakes? What could be nicer than a free serving? (OK, maybe if there were a side of bacon and eggs, but let's not get greedy...) On Tuesday, February 24th, participating International House of Pancakes are giving away a free short stack (three) of their buttermilk pancakes to everyone from 7:00 am to 10:00 am.

They ask that people taking part consider making a donation to IHOP’s national charity partner, Children’s Miracle Network, which helps improve the lives of children at the 170 Children’s Miracle Network hospitals nationwide. One hundred percent of the funds raised locally will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network hospital in the area. But the donation is voluntary -- the pancakes are free regardless.

National Pancake Day is a centuries-old tradition on the day before Lent, also known as “Shrove Tuesday” and Mardi Gras. For centuries, the English have “flipped” for pancakes on this day with rich lore and colorful events including pancake races. On February 24, IHOP will celebrate this tradition with its third National Pancake Day Celebration. And they give you a chance to feel good two ways: eating free pancakes and supporting the community at the same time.

There is a limit of one short stack per customer, it's for dine-in only, while supplies last and only at participating locations, and no other coupons are valid with this offer.

To read more about the details, you can click this link.

Sure Deodorant/Anti-Perspirant Free After Rebate - Two Types Now, Sure for Men After Feb 1st

If you use Sure anti-perspirant/deodorant or are willing to give it a try, they have a couple of types right now that are free after rebate with special packaging. And there's an offer starting February 1st where Sure for Men can be had for free too.

Right now, there are special packs of Sure MAX Clinical Power and Sure with Natural Extracts that have a yellow "Try Me Free" sticker across the top of the package. If you buy these before March 31st, you can get a rebate of your purchase price: up to $6.99 for a pack of Sure MAX and up to $2.99 on Sure with Natural Extracts.

The Sure for Men will have the same deal with the same special yellow sticker, but the rebate period doesn't start until February 1st (and lasts until November 15th). So even if you happen to find a specially marked pack on the shelves during January, don't buy it yet.

The rebate requires the yellow sticker, so don't buy a pack of one of these without it. You attach that sticker to the form you can get at their website, and include the original store receipt with the item circles the UPC code written on the back of the receipt.

These are all separate offers so you should be able to get one rebate for each of the three products if you choose (they have to be mailed separately, though).

Free after rebate is a nice way to make your dollars go further, so next time you're shopping, keep your eye out for these specially marked items (watch the date for the Men's purchase).

Southeast Asia Sale on Cathay Pacific: New York/Hong Kong $795 Roundtrip Including Fees; Manila $872; Bangkok $1142; Hong Kong Stopover Allowed

If you have a yearning to visit Southeast Asia, it's a little less expensive right now if you take advantage of a fare sale aboard Cathay Pacific. They have cut fares for travel in February was down -- roundtrip nonstop from New York to Hong Kong is as low as $795; in March or April the fare is just a bit higher at $865. But if you're going all that distance and want to take further advantage, there are a lot of other cities available with great fares. And Cathay Pacific allows you to include a stopover in Hong Kong so you can get two great cities for one low fare.

For example, they have flights to Manila from New York in February from $872. I did some searching using the Multiple Destination/Stopover link on their flight search page and was able to book New York to Hong Kong, stopover in Hong Kong for two days then on to Manila, and return from Manila to New York for $886. If I moved dates around, I probably could do even a bit better.

What's amazing is that these are the fares including the airport/security fees and taxes!

They have New York to/from Bangkok from $1142; to/from Kuala Lumpur from $1136; Beijing from $885; Singapore from $1141; Ho Chi Minh City from $1136; and several others as well. The lowest fares can typically be found midweek but you should poke around.

Some of the cities have best prices in February and slightly higher in March/April. Other cities have one low fare covering all three months.

They also offer airfares from Los Angeles and San Francisco. What's weird is that several of the cities are much less expensive from LA, but Hong Kong is more than the fare from New York.

These low airfares have to be booked by the end of January, but the sooner you book, the better your choice of dates and flights is bound to be.

For anyone who wants to or needs to go to Southeast Asia soon, the options are terrific and these prices are sure to catch your eye. Plus on top of the fare, you're traveling on Cathay Pacific, one of the top-rated air carriers in the world. It's also the only airline in the world that offers fixed-back shell seats in economy class. Australia Roundtrip from West Coast $760; From JFK $960

Looking to head down under? You always hear people raving about Australia after they go for a visit, so it's on many people's travel wish lists. Right now, Qantas is making that dream come a bit closer by offering a sale on airfares for outbound travel between February 1st and September 21st. You can fly from San Francisco or Los Angeles to Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane for $760 roundtrip. If you're on the East Coast and want to leave from New York City, it's just a $960 fare.

These special prices are about $300 less than the regular airfare, so it's a nice bit of savings. They need to be booked by January 26th, but the sooner you look, the better your choice will be of dates.

The airport and security taxes/fees are additional, as with most advertised airfares.

It's really unusual to see such a long period covered by a discount fare. You can pretty much pick the season you want to be there. Remember, it's still summertime in Australia in February!

Spirit Airlines -- Buy One Trip Now, Get One Free Later

With many of the Spirit Airlines deals I've posted, they have had super-low fares available just on specific dates for specific city-pairs. But right now there's another way you can save on travel with Spirit.

They are offering a Buy-One-Get-One-Free deal. At first I thought they meant a free companion ticket but that's not what this deal is about. Rather, if you book a flight now for travel through June 17th, they'll send you a voucher in mid-July that you can use by September 2nd to book free travel (up to the same dollar amount) between September 9th and November 18th. You have to register for the promotion and register for their frequent flyer club to take advantage.

The conditions are a little long to read, but if you travel between cities served by Spirit (mainly along the East Coast but some other places like Detroit, San Antonio and Los Angeles), then this might be a way you can get two trips for the price of one.

This promotion expires January 15th, so you need to make your travel plans quickly. To check out the program, click this link.

Restaurant.com Promo Code - 60% Off - Valid Until January 19th

Hopefully, many of you were able to take advantage of the end-of-the-year promo code on Restaurant.com. But for those of you still looking for a nice deal on dining out, there's a new promo code that gets you 60% off the prices of their certificates or dinner-of-the-month club.

With the code, you can get $25 certificates at participating restaurants for just $4.00 (normally $10). For restaurants that have $10 certificates (typically for use at lunchtime), those are reduced now from $3.00 to $1.20 with the promo code.

It's a great way to be able to dine out well without putting as big a dent in your budget.

If you want to use their system but aren't at the point of picking a specific restaurant, the dinner-of-the-month program may be an answer. A three-month plan ($75 worth of dining) is normally $30, but with the pro code right now it's just $12.00.

For those of you who haven't used restaurant.com, their certificates come with some restaurant-specific restrictions that I think are fairly easy to meet (i.e. minimum check of $35, minimum 2 entrees etc.). There are restaurants all around the country on their list. So you can try out a new place or visit an old favorite a bit more often.

The code to use is EXCLUSIVE -- enter it at checkout and hit 'apply' to see the savings in your cart before you submit your order. Just click on the link below to visit restaurant.com.

Save 60% off $25 gift certificates. Use code EXCLUSIVE and pay $4. Valid through 1/19/09.
