This week they are offering a nice selection of over 70 styles of shoes by RSVP all priced at $9.95. That's the low price, no matter how high the original retail started.

Free Companion Flight to Orlando When You Book a Flight + Hotel Package on Southwest

If Orlando, Universal Studios® or Walt Disney World® are in your vacation thoughts, you might want to take a look at an offer being run by Southwest Airlines. They are offering a free companion ticket for anyone who purchases a flight + hotel package through them. And since you probably wouldn't be heading there alone, chances are good you have someone who could use the free ticket to save you both money on the cost of vacationing.

And if you're traveling as a family, every second person flies free, so if four of you are traveling, you only need to pay for two. If six are together, three of them would be free companion tickets.

There are a variety of hotel special packages, including Walt World Resort® discounts, Universal Orlando® Resort discount, a couple of Sheraton® hotels, a Best Western®, Quality Inn® or Comfort Inn® too.

The special packages have to be booked by June 21st. The travel period is through October 30th (Blackout dates: 6/29 - 7/6/09). Some of the hotel offers have some other date restrictions. The offer is valid for travel Monday- Thursday.

The site also shows special offers for buy one, get one Free 2-Park Unlimited Admission Tickets, valid for Universal Studios® and Universal's Islands of Adventure® theme parks.

So if Florida is a potential vacation consideration, click this link and see what you can save.

p.s. As a reminder for anyone who wants to save even a bit more, you can get back 3% of what you spend if you use ebates as a portal to go to Southwest. If you're not an ebates user yet and want to learn more, click the info in the lower part of the left column in this blog.

Travel Sale at Orbitz

Most of the travel deals I find and post are for specific items, such as flight sales to specific locations and or for specific dates, some particular hotel deals, etc. And those can be helpful if you happen to be traveling there, or (if you have a lot of date flexibility) have wanted to go to a special destination. But for a more general search tool that may help you save on whatever your upcoming travel plans may be, Orbitz is currently starting a summer sale that has all sorts of savings.

There are deals on hotels, with savings up to 50% off for some, free nights for others, flight deals on American Airlines, special savings on car rentals and more.

It may be worth taking a little time and seeing how a potential vacation trip (or business trip) might come out if you let Orbitz find you some savings. To start a search, click the link below.

Free Ticket to a Pittsburgh Pirates Home Game

A few baseball teams have had deals involving free tickets -- check my earlier posts for info about tickets for the Braves, Orioles or Rangers -- and now the Pittsburgh Pirates have gotten on board. They are offering a free infield grandstand ticket to anyone who signs up on their website and provides their birthday information.

But the neat thing is that the game you select doesn't have anything to do with your birthday. You can pick a game if your birthday has passed, if your birthday falls outside the season, or if you just want to pick a specific game/opponent. There are just four games excluded, and the game must occur at least four days after registration.

The tickets have a value of $16.00 so this is a nice freebie.

Parents can even sign up their children to be recipients. The site also offers an opportunity to buy additional tickets at $10.00 (saving $6.00 off regular prices). But if you want to go together with someone else or a small group, since there's a limit of one free ticket per person, there's also nothing to stop a couple of people from registering for the same date/game.

The deadline for registering is September 25th.

To read all the details and register for your free game ticket, click this link.

Free Travel Coffee Tumbler

Could you use a tumbler to bring your hot coffee along in the car? Well, you don't need to rush out to buy one if you can get one sent to you for free, right? Does it really matter if it has a business' name on it?

Case Construction is giving free coffee tumblers just to interest people in taking a look at their construction equipment. To get your free tumbler, click this link and enter the promo code CASETLC. You'll be taken to a page to submit your contact information (as always, I suggest using a separate e-mail account, like one from hotmail or yahoo, to keep information like this out of your primary personal mailbox).

June 3rd: Free Root Beer Float at Sonic® from 8:00 p.m. to Midnight

The offer is while supplies last, at participating Sonic® Drive-Ins. Presumably one to a customer, although that's not stated on the website.

Free Safety Googles

If you work with power tools, safety goggles are a must. Rather than having to run out and buy a pair, you can pick up a free sample from Gateway Safety. They produce the LuminaryTM safety glasses that are very light and built for a comfortable fit. You can request your free sample just by submitting an e-mail.

The data sheet about these goggles indicates that they weigh less than an ounce, so they won't feel heavy on your face. They have pliable temples for longer comfort and a fit for any face. You can read all the information on the pdf at this link.

Their website indicates you can check out their featured safety glasses and get a free sample. You can do that by sending an e-mail request to info@gatewaysafety.com.

Picking up added safety for free is a nice way to save now, and maybe save from having an accident later.

Free Gardening Gloves or Water Bottle

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is working to increase people's awareness of environmental issues in general and of the Bay in particular. As such, they're looking for people to take a pledge to help promote better practices. And to make those pledges a little more rewarding to make, they're offering a free water bottle or free gardening gloves.

They're encouraging better care of the air through more cycling and less driving. For gardeners, they're talking about better water conservation and soil/plant care. And for boaters they encourage litter-free and pollution-free boating.

You don't have to live near the Chesapeake Bay to make your pledge, and for people who take the cycling pledge they will send you a free "Cyclist for the Bay" water bottle. For anyone who takes the gardening pledge they will send you a free pair of gardening gloves.

The site doesn't seem to indicate that you can only make one of the pledges, so you could probably get both the water bottle and the gardening gloves if desired.

All the pledges also include getting more information about protecting the Bay and the environment as well as e-mails on important issues.

To check them out and make your pledge to get the free items, click this link and then click on the appropriate pledge.

Orchestra Tickets to Any of 10 Broadway Shows for $59.00 from June 29th to July10th

Theatregoers in New York, rejoice! And for anyone planning a trip to the Big Apple at the end of June or early July, take note. There's a promotion called Broadway on the Fourth that offers discounted tickets to ten shows on the Great White Way. For $59.00 you can get tickets in the orchestra or front mezzanine to any one of these shows:

- "August: Osage County" (regularly $116.50)
- "Avenue Q: The Musical" (reg. $121.50)
- "Guys and Dolls" (reg. $126.50)
- "In the Heights" (reg. $121.50)
- "Mary Stuart" (reg. $116.50)
- "9 to 5: The Musical" (reg. $126.50)
- "Shrek the Musical" (reg. $126.50)
- "The Norman Conquests" (reg. $112.00)
- "The 39 Steps" (reg. $111.50)
- "Waiting for Godot" (reg. $121.50)

Normal service charges apply to phone and Internet orders (but you'd pay these whether the tickets were on sale or not). Tickets are subject to availability and prior sale. Ticket limit applies. All sales are final - no refunds or exchanges.

By the way, if you're interested in "The 39 Steps," which I've seen and highly recommend, they may still be offering their 39 Tickets for $39 promotion at each performance so you might want to try that promotion first before getting these $59 tickets -- maybe you can save even more that way.

I have a feeling the best seats will be selling quickly, so check out this deal soon if you're interested. Click this link for the details and to find tickets.

Rent from Hertz in Florida and Return the Car in Another State -- As Low As $19.99 Per Week Plus Free Upgrade

I heard a report on TV yesterday that I had to check out. Hertz is having a promotion where you can rent a car in Florida and return it to a designated Hertz location in a different state for a ridiculously low weekly rate. Checking their website, there's also a second part of the offer: a free upgrade to the next car class. The lowest rate available is $5.00 per day, or just $19.99 per week. That's the special rate for an economy car for this special promotion.

But if you add the free upgrade RQ code 1WAY and PC# 118193, you get the next class up, a compact car.

The Florida Drive Out promotion is valid until the end of June.

With these promo prices plus the upgrade codes, you could get a midsize car for just $29.99 for the week. Or if you want to drive something more exotic, you could get a premium car for $79.99 for the week.

You have to pick up your car at one of the Hertz offices at a Florida airport, including Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, Tampa or West Palm Beach. Then you need to drive it out of state to one of 62 locations around the country (most of them aren't terribly close to Florida).

It's a very unusual promotion, but if you can figure a way to get to Florida on a one-way ticket and drive back north or west, you may find incredible savings.

To read all about the offer and to look for cars and rates, click this link.

Free Leatherneck Tool Kit

Ever have a need to punch a new hole in a belt (nice reward after you've lost some weight)? You know how handy specific tools for leather can be, but most of us don't have them so we try to use scissors to create a belt hole or take that belt and pay to have a new hole made. Well, wouldn't it be nice if you could get a leather tool kit for free? You can right now, courtesy of the Marine Corps Association.

The kit has four different size/shape tips for various leather needs. It's available to residents of the U.S. except those living in New York (don't ask me why).

You can click off the box asking for further e-mail updates when you request your free kit. Just click this link to go to their website.

Free T-Shirt from Lenahan & Dempsey, P.C.

Lenahan & Dempsey P.C., Attorneys at Law, are giving away a free T-Shirt just by requesting one at their website. These are a dark green with the name of the company on the front and back. You can choose the size you want, and there's a limit of one per household.

So if a free spare T-Shirt would come in handy, just click on this link to provide your name, address and e-mail address, and they'll send it your way.

The free bottle opener offer is shown on the left side as the website loads, and after you enter your date of birth and enter, you just click the link for 'join' at the bottom of the page. Restaurant.com Promo Code - A Whopping 80% Off All Orders Through May 31st

Update May 26th -- This 80% promo was due to expire May 25th but has now been extended through the end of May. This 80% offer is as low as I've seen restaurant.com go.

For restaurants that offer $10.00 dining certificates (generally for lunch times), those now cost just 60¢!

The certificates come with restaurant-specific restrictions (i.e. minimum amount of check at $35 or minimum of two entrees etc.) and are valid for a year.

Dinner-of-the-Month is a great deal too, since you designate whether you want a certificate a month for a three-month, six-month or twelve-month period and then cash them in for particular participating restaurants when it's convenient for you.

Spirit Airlines -- $20 Roundtrips Between Atlantic City and Boston October 20 and 27; Other Cities with Low Fares Too

I've written about Spirit Airlines a few times on this blog -- the story of my 2¢ roundtrip from Atlantic City to Las Vegas was one of the reasons I started this blog.

They have another one of their promotional sales going on until 11:59 pm May 20th, with a variety of discounts on specific dates on a lot of their routes. The lowest prices are available to members of their $9 Fare Club, with a variety of city pairs available as low as $9.00 each way on specific dates.

But they also have another sale going on for flights between October 14th and October 31st with different discounts available each day of the week. The lowest fares are still available to those Fare Club members, but in this case, slightly higher fares can be had even if you don't join their club.

The most noteworthy fare I saw here was on Tuesdays -- flights between Boston and Atlantic City for $1.00 for the $9 Fare Club members. Since non-members usually pay $9.00 more per flight, it looks like anyone else can book tickets for $10.00 each way on those two Tuesdays, October 20th and 27th.

Wednesday fares for these cities are $9.00 for Club members so would probably be $18.00 for anyone else -- still very good for this route. Those fares would be valid October 14th, 21st or 28th.

There are also very low $1.00 Club fares involving Fort Lauderdale, and many other cities have other attractive prices too.

These fare prices don't include the airport and security fees. There are a lot of cities and dates possible, so if you want to see if any are a fit for you to create a fun, cheap trip, click this link. The earlier the better before the low fares sell out.

Double Savings at Restaurant.com -- Promo Code for 60% Off Plus Bonus $10.00 Certificate

Restaurant.com is back with its latest promotional code to get you even better savings on what's already a nice way to save when you dine out. This promo code gets you 60% off the cost of their dining certificates or Dinner-of-the-Month Club. But on top of that savings, they also add a bonus $10.00 dining certificate to each order.

So, after the code, you're effectively getting $35 of dining credit (a $25 certificate plus a $10 one) for just $4.00! Or you can get $20 of dining credit (a $10 certificate plus a $10 bonus one) for $1.20!

The bonus is per order. When they've had promo codes that include bonus certificates like this, if I've ordered several certificates I have done separate orders for each one -- that way I've qualified for a bonus for each one.

If you're new to the blog and not yet familiar with Restaurant.com, my most recent post about them had a detailed explanation of how they work. Just check the Topic Index at the bottom of the left column and click restaurant.com to read earlier posts.

This current promo code is TABLE and it's valid for orders by May 21st. Click 60% off and receive a FREE $10 Certificate with every order. Use code TABLE and pay $4 through 5/21/09 and you can start looking for restaurants near you.

Free Sample of Stetson All American Cologne

Stetson is unveiling a new cologne for men called All American. They're describing it as adventurous, rugged and masculine -- inspired by the heritage and character of Stetson Original, and embodying an invigoratingly bold youthfulness.

I've never smelled it myself so I can't attest to any of that, but they're willing to send out free samples for you to check out.

Just click on this link to their website and then click on the "request a sample" spot at the top of the webpage.

Stila Cosmetics 40% Off Promo Code Plus Free Shipping

If you use Stila Cosmetics or would like to try this line of quality make-up and beauty products, here's a promotional code that will save you in two ways. First off, it saves you 40% off when you purchase items at their website. And secondly it also makes the shipping complimentary, saving you an additional $7.95 on your order.

They have a nice variety of products for the face, hair and skin, and fragrances too. There's also a limited edition "BarbieTM Loves Stila" spring collection. You can actually get BarbieTM-inspired looks with four Stila paint can sets and the "BarbieTM Loves Stila" Talking Palette. The sets also include a "BarbieTM Look Book" that includes a history of each top-selling BarbieTM doll over the last 50 years.

But don't get confused by the BarbieTM references, these are quality cosmetics and beauty products. If you add promo code STILAPRO at checkout, 40% off and all the shipping handling charges are taken off your order.

For example, their Creme Bouquet Hair Refresher costs $28.00, and with shipping you would expect to pay $35.95. But with the promo code, the price would drop to $16.80, so the code ends up saving you over half the price after shipping.

I'm not certain how long the code is valid, so you may want to check it out quickly. To check out the Stila line of products, click this link.

7" Digital Photo Frame with Video and Music Capabilities $28.99

Digital photo frames are great for enjoying memories you've captured with your digital camera, and some of them come with features that can enhance the enjoyment, such as playing music, or watching video files you've taken with your camera as well.

Often the lowest prices you see on sale are for digital frames that just support showing still pictures, but if you're looking for one at a great price that has enhanced capabilities you might want to check this one out. Buy.com is selling the Haier PF710 Digital Picture Frame for $28.95, 71% off the retail of $99.99. Free budget shipping is included, keeping the final price quite low.

This would already be a nice deal on just a straightforward digital frame just for photos. But you're getting more with this one.

This 7" digital frame is built for still pictures, music files and video too. It has with built-in twin speakers, a headphone jack, and remote control. Features include:
- Photo Viewer, Audio Player, Video Player
- USB 2.0 Port and Headphone Port
- Expansion Slots for Memory Stick, SD, MMC or xD Cards
- 7" LCD Display Screen

Back from Vegas and Ready for Deals

Got back from a quick trip to Vegas where my wife had a conference to attend. Since our dates weren't flexible, it was a bit limited on the deals we could get, but there were deals to be had nonetheless.

We used Travelocity to find airfares and the best deal was one that used different airlines for the flights coming and going. I think that's something we couldn't have arranged ourselves by going directly through the airlines' websites.

Hotels.com gave us a nice deal with our hotel stay. They had a selection of hotels where the third night was free. But what was extremely nice about that is that it wasn't that the cheapest night was free, it was that the third night was free. So while our room for Thursday night came to about $68 before taxes, our $148 Saturday night room was free! Very nice indeed.

Also found a nice deal on a rental car, using a coupon code from one of the sites that comes up when you enter 'coupons' in a google search. It was a code that offered 40% off Avis rates that you could find on their website, and the total ended up coming down to $16 per day (plus taxes and fees). The representative at the rental counter wondered how we got the rate, remarking it was even less than employees pay. Even with all the fees and taxes, the final total was not much more than two roundtrips by taxi might have cost, and certainly less than it would have cost my wife to go back and forth to the conference from the hotel where we stayed.

While in Vegas, I kept my eye open for deals, coupons books and other offers -- I stayed away from any of the timeshare promoters who offer freebies if you'll listen to their sales pitches. But there were lots of other deals around to make the trip more enjoyable. There are spots along the Strip where you can pick up tickets for that evening's shows at discounts of 25% to 50% -- and in one of the coupon books you can pick up in distribution boxes along the street, there was a coupon to save $2.00 off the $5.00 service charge. So my wife and I were able to get two seats to a show for barely more than one ticket might have cost at the box office.

Going into some of the casinos, particularly the less elaborate ones, there always seemed to be coupons to pick up for some great discounts. Some of them require you to join the casino's Player's Club while others are just offers they have available to attract people. At Casino Royale they had coupons for Buy-One-Get-One-Free $1.00 Margaritas if you joined their club. They also had freebie coupons anyone could pick up for a for Buy-One-Get-One-Free Ice Cream at Baskin Robbins. Bill's Casino had 99¢ margaritas on sale (no club membership needed). The street coupon books had discounts on meals and shows, like $5.00 off a $20.00 meal at Planet Hollywood Restaurant (which strangely enough isn't at the Planet Hollywood Casino -- it's in the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace).

The Strip is also filled with those free sights that are fun to experience that don't cost a dime, such as the Bellagio's dancing water display, the Sirens of TI show, the Lions at MGM and others. It's also fun to walk around and see the Eiffel Tower at the Paris and stroll a bit further and see the Statue of Liberty at New York New York.

Let's just say that Las Vegas is one of those places you can find lots to do while stretching your dollars to get more than you'd expect for the money. The more flexibility you have when planning your trip the better your chance to score big savings (i.e. if you can book a trip well in advance around dates that airfares are best; midweek hotel prices are way less than weekends). But whenever you go, there are ways to still have a great time and save a bit along the way.

100-240v Worldwide-Use Home & Car Rapid Battery Charger w/ AA & AAA Rechargeable Batteries $12.99

I posted about this item a couple of weeks ago when it was at a great price (I bought one myself at that price) of $14.99. They sold out but now it's back again and now offered even lower: $12.99. This one is a terrific deal for anyone who uses a few battery-powered devices, and especially if they travel by car or also for those who travel overseas. Buy.com is now selling the Digital Concepts 100-240v Worldwide use Home & Car Rapid Battery Charger w/ AA & AAA Rechargeable Batteries for just $12.99, including free budget shipping.

It retails for $49.99 so your savings are 74% off.

This charger includes eight rechargeable batteries (four AA and four AAA) -- and if you were to just count the cost of the batteries, it's already a great deal. You would typically pay $10-$15 for four AA or four AAA rechargeables, so at $12.99 you're already way ahead.

And on top of that, you get a super-versatile charger. You can use it at home, use it in a car, use it in foreign countries with 240 voltage. That's a lot of places where this can save you from having to buy new throwaway batteries just to keep your digital camera working, etc.

And you know when you travel, it's harder to find great prices for batteries, so the savings can be great while you're on a trip.

So, in addition to the upfront 74% off on this charger with eight rechargeable batteries, your savings will keep multiplying by the numbger of regular batteries you won't need to be buying in the future.

This charger features:
- charges either AA or AAA batteries in about 2 hours
- charges 2 or 4 batteries at once
- easy-select 2 or 4 battery toggle switch
- 100 or 240 VAC wall outlet
- built in switching adjusts the AC input voltage automatically (adapter req'd)
- charge in an outlet at home, or use charger while in your car
- retractable spade type AC plug for easier storage
- charges up to 1000 times
- red Charging light and green Ready lights indicate charging status
- subsequent partial charges will not reduce the batteries' capacity
- batteries last up to 4 times longer than standard alkaline batteries
- includes 4 AA high capacity 2300 mAh NiMH rechargeable batteries
- includes 4 AAA high capacity 900 mAh NiMH rechargeable batteries

This will really save a ton of money on batteries over the years, especially when you're traveling and less apt to find bargains when you need to buy regular batteries. I think this will be a handy addition to anyone's travel kit. Check it out by clicking the picture below.
