The 99 Most Essential Bach Masterpieces for $2.99

Several months ago, Amazon offered 99-track selections of Essential Masterpieces by Beethoven and Mozart, and now they're back with Bach. Ah, Bach! (Small reference for all you M*A*S*H watchers out there.)

Anyway, you can get an mp3 download of 99 masterpieces by this great composer for just $2.99 right now. That's what you'd expect to pay for about three tracks. Not that anyone would individually download all 99 tracks, but buying them separately would be $88.11.

Amazon doesn't keep the price at this low rate forever for these kinds of collections, so if you're interested in adding a lot of great classical music to your collection for your iPod, Zune or other mp3 device, you may want to get this soon.

Spirit Airlines -- Flights for a Nickel or a Dime for $9 Fare Club Members

Spirit Airlines is holding one of their fare promotions right now, through 11:50 pm on Friday the 31st. This is one of those date-specific sales on certain routes. Members of their $9 Fare Club can get one-way flights for a nickel or a dime on certain routes. Yes, 5¢ or 10¢!

So if you can match up dates coming and going, the fare could be as low as a dime roundtrip.

The prices don't include airport/security fees, but even with that, these will be super-low compared to anything else you'll find.

Some of these also have availability for non-members of the club, and those are $20.00 more each way. But a roundtrip at the member fares would save the annual cost ($39.95) of the club (and would avail you of more special fares throughout the year).

Some examples of nickel fares are:
- Atlantic City to Boston 9/1, 9/14, 9/28, 9/30
- Boston to Atlantic City 9/2, 9/22, 9/23, 9/30
- Fort Lauderdale to Orlando 10/11, 10/24, 10/25, 10/27
- Orlando to Fort Lauderdale 10/7, 10/14, 10/27, 10/28
- Fort Lauderdale to Freeport, Bahamas 8/7, 8/9, 8/10, 8/14
- Freeport to Fort Lauderdale 8/9, 8/10, 8/13, 8/14

Some dime fares include:
- Detroit to Fort Lauderdale 10/5, 10/9, 10/24, 10/31
- Fort Lauderdale to Detroit 10/12, 10/13, 10/29, 10/30
- Tampa to Fort Lauderdale 10/1, 10/6, 10/15, 10/19
- Fort Lauderdale to Tampa 10/4, 10/16, 10/18, 10/21

All the fares are good only for booking till July 31st at 11:59 p.m.

These are the lowest deals but they also have discounts on other routes, so to see what Spirit is offering, click this link.

100-240v Worldwide-Use Home & Car Rapid Battery Charger w/ AA & AAA Rechargeable Batteries $10.99

This item's made two appearances on my blog before, each time selling out at a great price. It's back again and lower than before. Buy.com is now selling the Digital Concepts 100-240v Worldwide use Home & Car Rapid Battery Charger w/ AA & AAA Rechargeable Batteries for just $10.99, including free budget shipping.

It retails for $49.99 so your savings are 78% off.

This charger includes eight rechargeable batteries (four AA and four AAA) -- and if you were to just count the cost of the batteries, it's already a great deal. You would typically pay $10-$15 for four AA or four AAA rechargeables, so at $10.99 you're already way ahead.

In fact, with the cost of the batteries alone, it may be worth picking up a second pack just for some additional batteries.

This is a super-versatile charger. You can use it at home, use it in a car, use it in foreign countries with 240 voltage. That's a lot of places where this can save you from having to buy new throwaway batteries just to keep your digital camera working, etc.

And you know when you travel, it's harder to find great prices for batteries, so the savings can be great while you're on a trip.

So, in addition to the upfront 78% off on this charger with eight rechargeable batteries, your savings will keep multiplying by the numbger of regular batteries you won't need to be buying in the future.

This charger features:
- charges either AA or AAA batteries in about 2 hours
- charges 2 or 4 batteries at once
- easy-select 2 or 4 battery toggle switch
- 100 or 240 VAC wall outlet
- built in switching adjusts the AC input voltage automatically (adapter req'd)
- charge in an outlet at home, or use charger while in your car
- retractable spade type AC plug for easier storage
- charges up to 1000 times
- red Charging light and green Ready lights indicate charging status
- subsequent partial charges will not reduce the batteries' capacity
- batteries last up to 4 times longer than standard alkaline batteries
- includes 4 AA high capacity 2300 mAh NiMH rechargeable batteries
- includes 4 AAA high capacity 900 mAh NiMH rechargeable batteries

This will really save a ton of money on batteries over the years, especially when you're traveling and less apt to find bargains when you need to buy regular batteries. I think this will be a handy addition to anyone's travel kit. Check it out by clicking the picture below.

Earn $895 Just for Doing Your Normal Driving in Several Cities: Albuquerque, Chicago, Miami, Wichita, Billings, or Portland (Maine)

If you happen to live in one of several designated cities, you can apply to participate in a Road User Study. You don't have to change your driving habits, you just let them evaluate your driving use and they pay you a total of $895.00 for completed participation.

If you can earn extra money just performing your regular tasks, that seems like making your driving dollars go further. You have to apply to participate and the site doesn't show how many people will be selected and how they'll be chosen. The purpose of the study is to evaluate whether a road-use fee is needed to supplement or replace the current gas tax (your participation doesn't mean you agree about that).

Participation basically includes some up-front training/orientation, having an on-board computer installed in your car, do your normal driving for eight months and answer six questionnaires, and have the computer removed at the end.

The cities involved are:
- Chicago, IL (Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, and Will Counties)
- Billings, MT (Carbon and Yellowstone Counties)
- Albuquerque, NM (Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance, and Valencia Counties)
- Wichita, KS (Butler, Harvey, Sedgwick, and Sumner Counties)
- Portland, ME (Cumberland, Sagadahoe, and York Counties)
- Miami, FL (Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach Counties)

The requirements for the car and the driver are:
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible for employment in the U.S.
- Own a personal automobile (year 2000 or newer)
- Provide proof of vehicle registration
- Provide proof of current insurance
- Live in one of the selected field test sites:
- Plan to reside in the area for at least the next 10 months
- Attend a 1.5 hour training session

The following vehicles are excluded from the study in year 2 because they may not be compatible with the on-board computer or because of warranty:
- All Mini Coopers
- All Ford Focus
- All Toyota Prius
- All 2007 and older Mitsubishi
- All 2007 and older VW
- All Acura RL
- All ¾ ton or larger pickups/vans, which would include for example Chevy/GMC 2500 series or higher, Ford E/F-250 or higher, and Dodge Ram 2500 or higher

If you live in one of these cities (or want to pass this on to someone who does) and want to check out the details click this link.

Additional 50% Off Clearance In-Stores at Old Navy, Plus Extra Discount Coupon

If you're looking for some new looks, or maybe just getting the kids ready for back-to-school (it's not that far off), you may want to take a run to Old Navy today or tomorrow. They are taking an additional 50% off clearance items until July 29th.

I'm always a big fan of these kinds of savings on top of savings, but if you go to oldnavyweekly.com before your trip you could save even more. That's a site that contains hidden coupons you can use in stores for extra savings. Each week contains different coupons and sometimes the ways you need to find them are very hard to find -- but the hardest-to-find coupons sometimes have a great value. (There are some internet sites that reveal hints for how to find coupons, but the best ones -- sometimes as high as $75 off a $100 purchase -- go quickly.)

Still, if you want, you can get a coupon valid for 15% off your total this week by clicking the tan pants in the uniform box and then moving them onto the center figure in the "Ride in Style" tableau of the page. When you move the pants there and release your mouse, the coupon should appear as a pop-up.

Putting together the original clearance prices, the extra 50% off and the extra 15% coupon, you should be able to find some really hot prices. To visit oldnavyweekly and find your coupon, click here.

Free Customizable Sample of Magic Spice

Here's not only a free sample you could use around the kitchen, but one you can personalize to make it truly your own. The people at Magic Spice are offering to send you a free sample of their Magic seasoning. But if you indicate a name or some other personalization (up to eleven characters) they will print that on the label so it's really "your" magic spice.

Their site has some videos and ideas on ways to use the spice mix to perk up the tastes of chicken and how to make a three-minute "magic" gravy.

The sign-up also allows you to enter a promotion code to be entered in an Omaha Steaks giveaway -- I have searched around and haven't found a source for a promo code. The sample request goes through whether you enter anything in that box or not. (I entered the word MAGIC since that seemed to make some sense, but who knows...)

To request your free sample (and to add a name for the label), click this link.

Over 100 Free Songs Downloadable from Urban Outfitters

I came across a link to a free download of 23 tracks of music downloadable for free from iTunes courtesy of Urban Outfitters. In taking a look at the site, there were four earlier groups of downloadable tunes available. The earlier ones don't seem to be through iTunes, but just as a direct download as zip files. Still, if you download and unzip them all, you could end up with over 100 songs to add to your music collection for free.

On the latest batch (the one through iTunes), some of the artists and songs include:
- Luke Top: Friends
- Grizzly Bear: Cheerleader
- Jeremy Jay: In This Lonely Town
- The Big Pink: Velvet
- Amazing Baby: Headdress

To take a look at the rest of them and get your iTunes download, click this link -- the iTunes button is at the right side. If you want to get the earlier music mixes, click on the LSTN #1 through #4 across the top banner at the site.

Laptop Specials -- Compaq at Walmart $298.00; HP at BestBuy $399.99

I don't often post computer deals simply because of the variety of needs people have and the variety of configurations available. But for people looking for a full-featured laptop (as opposed to one of the smaller netbooks that have become available lately), here are a couple of deals you might want to consider. With kids going on to the next level of school, there may be some more needs to pick up a laptop at a good price.

Walmart is selling the Compaq Presario 15.4" CQ60-419WM Laptop PC with AMD Sempron SI-42 Processor for $298.00. I believe shipping is $7.97 if you can't find it in store (it doesn't look like this model qualifies for free ship-to-store for pick-up).

BestBuy is selling the HP G60-458DX Laptop with Intel® Pentium® Processor for $399.99. You can choose in-store pick-up or have it shipped for about $15.00.

Both of these have a lot of features that will meet many computing needs. Obviously given the price, the HP system is a bit more elaborate, with Intel® as opposed to AMD processor, larger RAM and hard-drive and a higher level of Vista. (Since Microsoft will soon be coming out with Windows 7 for upgrades, the starting level of Vista may be less important.)

At these price points, these two laptops may be worth checking out and comparing. Just click the links below.

From the Earth to the Moon - The Signature Edition -- $10.49 (65% Off)

I posted about this DVD set a couple of weeks back but the price had gone up a bit since then. Well, right now the price at Amazon is dropped once again, this time even further than when I first wrote. So I wanted to post it for anyone interested in space exploration and history. Amazon.com is selling the complete DVD set From the Earth to the Moon - The Signature Edition for $10.49. That's 65% off the retail for this 5-disc set, hosted by Tom Hanks.

With Amazon pricing, it may not stay this low for long.

This is the signature edition with attractive packaging, with the shows in widescreen format. The reviews at the site will tell you about all the great episodes and features.

You can get free shipping as usual if you make this part of a larger order totaling $25.00 (maybe get a few of these as gifts?), but as I posted recently, you may also be able to get a free trial of Amazon Prime and get this shipped 2-day shipping for free. Click here for that info.

Free Sample of Airborne

If you have any plane travel in your future, you might want to send away for this one now. Airborne is giving away a free sample. This is the vitamin and mineral blend specifically designed to support your immune system, which is particularly susceptible during long periods in confined spaces like airplanes.

You'll save on the sample instead of having to buy a pack for a flight -- and it'll make your money go further on your next trip. After all, isn't a vacation more enjoyable and valuable if you're not battling a cold?

To get your free sample, click this link, and then click on the free sample spot at the top right (just next to the word 'menu.'

Bitdefender Total Security Software -- Two Years Coverage for Up to 3 PCs -- Free After Rebates (Competitive)

If you're looking for some robust security software, this package may give you some great coverage for a longer period than most other packages. Fry's is selling Bitdefender Total Security for $79.99. There are a pair of rebates (one is a competitive rebate) totaling $80.00 so you are getting the software free after those. Shipping is free as well, keeping this virtually free to your wallet (other than the two stamps to mail in the forms).

Bitdefender is a highly rated software package, and it carries a two-year subscription period (most of the others cover the PC for just one year). This version is licensed for use on up to three PCs.

The rebates are valid for purchases made by July 30th. One is a straight $45.00, the other is a competitive/upgrade rebate of $35.00.

If you've followed my advice on other rebate offers for security, you should have some McAfee or Norton sitting around that you can use for the competitive rebate documentation.

(There's even a deal for Norton which I posted a couple of days ago that's also free after competitive rebate -- you could order that one separately if you need a competitive product and use each one as proof for the other's rebate -- but I'd order them separately so the receipts don't show both together.)

To go to Fry's to check it out, click this link.

Spirit Airlines -- Roundtrips as Low as $4.00 for $9 Fare Club Members

Right now through 11:59 tonight, they have some special fares available, such as New York to/from Detroit for $2.00 (plus security/airport fees) on specific dates for Fare Club Members. There are low fare combinations for a lot of cities, particularly Fort Lauderdale.

Free 30-Song Summer Mix from iTunes and Stanford University

I'm not sure if the people at Stanford University have a particularly unique taste in music, but iTunes has teamed up with them for a special collection of 30 songs specially picked by the iTunes team for Stanford.

They are doing this to encourage people to check out out Stanford on iTunes U. There are a wide range of Stanford courses, events, faculty lectures, student-produced music, films and much more -- all available as free downloads for your computer, iPod or iPhone. But there's no obligation here to do anything further if you don't wish to -- you can just download the summer mix for free.

Restaurant.com Promo Code - 80% Off All Orders Through July 31st

Update July 28th-- Restaurant.com has extended the validity of the 80% promo code till the end of July.

Well, it's the time of month when restaurant.com rolls out their biggest discount promotional code -- 80%. This is a great time to stock up on gift certificates to participating restaurants, and as I've written before, a great time to join their Dinner-of-the-Month club.

The advantage to joining the club now is that you get the best price, but can redeem your certificates at the start of a month when all the most popular places have certificates in stock again.

With this promo code, a $25.00 dining certificate that's normally $10.00 is yours for just $2.00 (that's a lot of dining credit for just $2.00).

For restaurants that have $10.00 certificates (usually good at lunchtime) those get reduced from $3.00 to just 60¢ with the promo code.

The Dinner-of-the-Month club is available in 3-month, 6-month or 12-month increments. Not only do you get that number of $25.00 certificates, you also get a bonus certificate depending on the length of plan you buy. If you buy a 3-month plan, you get a bonus $10.00 certificate. A 6-month plan gets you a bonus $25.00 certificate and a 12-month deal gets you a bonus $50 certificate.

So if you use the promo code now, a 3-month plan (total of $85.00 credit) would run you just $6.00. The 6-month plan (total of $175.00 in certificates) would be just $12.00, and the 12-month ($350.00 of credit) comes to $24.00.

There are lots of participating restaurants all over the place, so this also makes a great gift idea, a nice idea for kids at college, etc. We've found some great new restaurants we might not have otherwise tried had it not been for the program, as well as going to some favorite places an extra time or two than we otherwise might have.

The promotional code to add at checkout is NAPKIN, valid through the 28th of July. To head over to restaurant.com, click here.

Gillette Mach3 Cartridge 12-Count $16.29 (42% Off)

One way I've advocated to save money in the long run is to buy nonperishable staple items in bulk when you find them on sale. One thing that many men need regularly is razor blades for shaving. And right now, Amazon.com has a nice deal on Mach3 cartridges. They are selling 12-count packages for $16.29 -- these retail for $27.99 so you are getting 42% off.

If you make this part of an order of $25.00 or more, you get free super saver shipping (you can do that by just buying two 12-packs, or maybe there are other items you find at Amazon).

I'm not sure how long the price drop will remain in effect, so if you use Mach3 cartridges and want to stock up, click the link below.

You register for both at the same time, but you are also registering for the site's newsletter. So as in the case of sampling freebies, I always suggest using a non-personal e-mail address (get one free at yahoo or hotmail if you don't already have one).

Free Plane Rides for Kids 8-17 from EAA™ Young Eagles

Here's a great treat for kids and teens. If you are between 8 and 17 years old, the EAA™ Young Eagles Program wants to offer you the chance of a lifetime. Turn dreams into reality on a free Young Eagles flight and become one of over 1 Million Young Eagles.

Beforehand, the pilot will explain what will happen during the flight, i.e. info about the airplane, completing a walk-around, reviewing an aeronautical chart or map and identifying reference points. In the plane, the pilot will help buckle the seat belt and describe the interior of the airplane, including the instrument panel.

Once in the air, you’ll see the earth and sky in a new and exciting way, experiencing the freedom of flight that many people dream about. Most Young Eagle flights last between 15 and 20 minutes.

Once back on the ground, there will be additional time to ask questions about the flight. Plus there's a commemorative Young Eagles certificate, which is signed, by your personal pilot and EAA™ Chairman Harrison Ford.

This looks like a great experience for anyone who's young and interested in flying (I'm a little jealous). To check out more and find nearby chapters of EAA™, click this link.

Wouldn't this make it a summer to remember?

Electronic Luggage Scale $2.99 Plus Shipping - July 16th Only

I just checked today's deal from Daily Steals, and it's a handy item for anyone who travels a lot. They are selling the Excalibur 9034 Pro Electronic Luggage Scale for just $2.99. They also charge shipping of $5.99 so the total delivered comes in at $8.98.

They show it retailing for $29.99 and I checked a couple of other internet sites and was seeing it sell in the range of $17.49 to $19.99 and up. So the Daily Steals price appears quite good.

With the added cost of overweight luggage (particularly if you're flying on a discount airline like Ryan Air), having an accurate measure when you pack is a handy precaution.

This scale can take weights up to 99 pounds. To take a look, click the Daily Steals link below.

Restaurant.com Promo Code - 60% Off All Orders Plus Bonus $10 Certificate

Here's the latest promotional code from Restaurant.com, one of the more popular programs about which I post. With this code, you get 60% off their normal prices, and with every gift certificate(s) order you get a bonus $10.00 certificate added to your account.

So a $25.00 dining certificate that normally runs $10.00 is now just $4.00 and you get the bonus $10.00 certificate as well. If you're shopping for a $10.00 dining certificate that normally goes for $3.00, you now would pay just $1.20 and also get the bonus.

So you can get $35.00 of dining credit for just $4.00 or $20.00 of credit for just $1.20. Those are very nice savings on dining out.

The code is also valid for Dinner-of-the-Month club purchases as far as getting 60% off, but those don't include a bonus $10.00 certificate because of this code.

My advice is if you plan to order several certificates, do so on separate orders so you qualify for the bonus certificate on each. If you're thinking of doing Dinner-of-the-Month, I suggest waiting till later in the month when there may be a code for 80% off.

The code to use is KITCHEN and it's valid through July 20th. Remember to hit the 'apply' button in checkout after you enter the promo code.

To visit Restaurant.com and search for participating restaurants to try (and at which you can save), click 60% off + free $10 certificate with every gift certificate urder when you use code KITCHEN.

They claim these have 45% less sodium that their prior line of meal kits.

The rebate is valid through the end of October, and to make things even easier, you can also print up a coupon that gets you $1.00 off your purchase -- it probably won't increase your rebate to more than you paid, but it's that much less you're out of pocket till they send you your money back.

For rebate information, click this link. And for the coupon, click here.
