Thinking of a European vacation soon? Want to make it even more spectacular? Why not incorporate a Mediterranean cruise? That way you get to see a few different cities, eat wonderfully, relax when you want, and even save some money on hotel bills (with the dollar/euro where they are, that's not such a bad consideration). Travelocity has an offer on the Norwegian Gem, sailing roundtrip from Barcelona, with rates as low as $699 a person.
The itinerary includes Valetta, Malta; Naples, Italy; Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy; Livorno (Florence), Italy; Villefranche (Nice), France; and back to Barcelona.
The $699 price is for the June 22nd sailing, inside cabin. You may want to do an outside cabin, which is also available at a very special price of $849. An $849 rate for an outside cabin is also available on the June 15th sailing.
They have other nice prices throughout the year, including some low-cost oceanview upgrades -- July 20th outside is $1019, just $10 higher than the inside cabin $1009 and August 3rd has just a $30 difference of $1199 compared to $1169.
There's an onboard savings booklet included, although I can't find details on what it includes. But the real savings are already there on the price of the cruise.
