HP Bright Printing Paper 75% Off, $4.99 for 1200-Sheet Carton

With all the documents and files we print at home nowadays, getting a good price on printing paper is always nice. There's a good deal going on right now at OfficeMax that'll let you stock up for the coming months, the next semester etc. They have HP All-in-One Grab & Stow Paper on sale, reduced from $19.99 to $4.99, which is 75% off.

This is less than you might expect to spend on a single ream of basic-quality printing paper but you're getting much more. First of all, this is a carton containing 1200 sheets, so it's more than two reams' worth of paper. Secondly, it's 96 Bright paper so your documents will look their best, and 22 lb. paper for a bit more durability than standard 20 lb. papers.

The carton also features a side-panel dispenser so you can pull out the number of sheets needed while keeping the rest organized and moisture-free. That's nicer than buying reams of paper where you have to figure out what to do with all the sheets when you tear open the wrapping on 500 papers.

If you make your payment with PayPal, you can also take advantage of an additional 25% off I've posted a few days ago in the blog.

I'm not sure how long this price drop will stay in effect, so if you want to check it out, go to this link.

Free Flowers to Share - September 3rd at Participating FTD Florists

Want to brighten a neighbor's day on September 3rd? FTD® Good Neighbor Day® can help.

FTD® will be celebrating its 14th Annual Good Neighbor Day® holiday Wednesday, September 3, 2008. Hundreds of FTD florists across the U.S. and Canada are planning special events and helping spread friendship and kindness to neighbors through the distribution of free floral bouquets.

Yes, participating FTD® locations give away free flowers for Good Neighbor Day®. In the past, it is has usually been a dozen roses. The idea is that you keep one for yourself, and give one flower to each of your neighbors.

The aim of the promotion is to encourage neighbors to help create a friendlier and more caring world through the gift of flowers. That's why customers are encouraged to keep one flower for themselves and give the others away — brightening the day of many other people.

Again, not all FTD® locations participate. And it's good while supplies last. But you can check their website and see if a florist nearby is taking part. To check locations and details, click this link.

Restaurant.com Promo Code - 60% Off - Valid Until August 31st

Restaurant.com has unveiled their latest promo code, allowing you to get their certificates at 60% off their regular price from now till the end of August.

The certificates give you $25 worth of dining credit at many restaurants, at the usual price of $10, meaning you can now order $25 certificates for just $4. At some restaurants they also have certificates in $10 dining credit denominations, usually for use at lunchtime. Those usually are priced at $3, so right now they would cost you just $1.20.

These certificates are valid for up to a year after purchase (no more than one per month for any single restaurant). The certificates usually have some minimum requirements such as the number of entrees or minimum check amount, but they're fairly easy to meet and use.

I've written about restaurant.com many times, and have used them to both try out new places and to visit some favorites more frequently than I might otherwise. They have a ton of participating restaurants across the country, so you can see if they have restaurants nearby. If you have kids leaving for college, you can check if there are restaurants near campus so every once in a while they can get a break from dorm food.

The promo code valid till August 31st is LABOR. Enter that during checkout and hit 'apply' so you see the savings before completing the transaction.

To check out whether you have any restaurants worth getting a great price break on dining, visit restaurant.com and check by state or zip code.

Free Chicken Strips at Chick-Fil-A September 1st

Free food giveaways can be fun, and Chick-Fil-A has one upcoming to kick off the football season. On September 1st, participating locations will be giving away three-piece servings of their Chick-N-Strips for free from 10:30 a.m. to closing. The only thing you need to do is wear some attire that has the logo of a football team. It can be a pro team, college team, high school or middle school team, or even your recreational team.

You don't even have to get out of your car; you can pick them up at the drive-thru window if you tell them while ordering what team logo you're wearing.

There do seem to be some state limits on what locations can give away the food, and the rules indicate: AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MO, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WI, WV, and WY.

There's a limit of one free three-count order of Chick-n-Strips per person.

To get all the details of the promotion, click this link.

Extra Savings: Get Back 25% of Your Purchase at OfficeMax by Paying with PayPal

One way to help make your money go further is to capitalize on extra ways to combine savings from one program with savings from another. Examples can include coupons you find for department stores that you can apply to items which have already been discounted. Or programs by credit cards for extra savings at a store or a travel site.

With these kinds of offers, you can spend a bit of time searching for the best deals you can find at those stores for some initial savings and then use the second promotion to make the savings stand out.

Now until September 30th, you can receive an extra 25% back at OfficeMax by using PayPal to pay for your purchase. That's on top of any sale prices you might find looking at OfficeMax deals.

There's no minimum purchase amount to qualify, although OfficeMax offers free shipping once your order exceeds $50.00.

The maximum amount of PayPal cash-back you can receive under this program is $50.00, meaning an order (or orders) totaling $200.00 will reach that limit per PayPal account.

So let's say you find an item at OfficeMax that's reduced in price from $300.00 down to $200.00; you can pay with PayPal and after the cash-back, your net expenditure will have been just $150.00.

Not bad -- extra savings just for using a different method of payment!

Beijing Roundtrip from Newark Sept - Nov $988 including Taxes/Fees; Hong Kong Roundtrip for $960 -- Shanghai at $988 Starting March 2009

Well, you've seen Beijing during the Olympics... tempted to go? If so, Continental Airlines has some deals to make it a bit more feasible. Right now you can book fares on Continental Airlines for roundtrip between Newark and Beijing for $920 on certain days of the week during September, October and November. With the taxes/fees tacked on, the final price comes to just $988. That's a good $300 or more below what can be seen on other airlines.

Hong Kong non-stop roundtrips are also available during this period, with fares available at $889. With the airport and security fees, the final price comes to just under $960.

Continental Airlines also just announced new nonstop service to Shanghai. Beginning March 25, 2009, you can fly there from Newark for the same $920 roundtrip. Whether you choose Beijing or Shanghai, the total comes to $988 with tax.

For current Beijing travel, click this link, put in EWR for departure and BJS as destination, then pick travel dates between September and November.

To see the Shanghai offer, click this link for a bunch of Asia special offers at Continental can click Shanghai to pick available dates. They also have links on the special offer page for Beijing and Hong Kong, among others.

By the way, I just posted on the blog about AirAsia giving away one million free flights within Asia or between Asia and Australia (for travel between next April and July). An adventuresome traveler could pair these deals up and create an Asian adventure spanning many cities and maybe a trip to Australia as well. Now that would create a memorable trip!

AirAsia Giving Away One Million Free Flights -- Intra-Asia or Asia-Australia

If you happen to be traveling to Asia anytime between April 1st and July 31st, 2009, here's a way you might be able to tack on a lot to your itinerary without tacking a lot to your wallet.

AirAsia has a promotion going on from August 26th through August 31st (I'm presuming the time zone is theirs so it's already August 26th in Asia as I post this). They will be giving away one million free flights! All you would need to pay is the applicable airport/security taxes and fees plus surcharges for fuel.

This airline does not operate in the U.S., this deal is for flights in and between China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos, Macao, Myanmar, Philippines and Australia. But if you can find a nice fare to, say, Beijing or Singapore, then maybe this lets you turn your trip into something more dynamic and adventuresome. Maybe even explore both Asia and Australia in one grand adventure!

Again, this offer isn't for everyone, but maybe for a reader or two of mine, this could be a travel deal worth exploring. The promotion runs just the next five days to book, so you may want to get on board quickly.

To check out details and see what they might have to offer, click this link.

Recommended for Notebook Users: Antec Notebook Cooler $4.99 After Rebate (Free Shipping)

I found a nice post-rebate price on an item I previously purchased (when a different vendor had a good rebate offer) to use with my notebook. I've found that it does the job and makes using my laptop more comfortable -- and probably is better for the laptop in the long run.

The item is the Antec Notebook Cooler, which sits beneath our laptop and gets plugged into a USB port. It provides a fan that helps the notebook run much cooler. That makes it more comfortable when your wrists are resting on the keyboard. It also keeps the components from overheating and possibly breaking down.

The unit runs very quietly and sits easily under my laptop -- I hardly notice it. And even though it plug into a USB port, it has a pass-through USB port on the other side, so you still have that USB port available if needed. My laptop has been noticeably cooler ever since I started using it.

Right now, Fry's has it on sale for $19.99 with free shipping. There's a $15.00 mail-in rebate for purchases by August 26th. So, bottom line, you can have this useful accessory for your notebook for less than a fiver!

To take a look at the details, here's a link to the Antec Notebook Cooler at Fry's.

Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate Available to College Students for Over 90% Off!

The Microsoft Office Ultimate offer for college students is back.

Microsoft is once again offering its Office Ultimate 2007 software suite to college students for $59.95, which is less than one-tenth of the regular retail of $679. Now that's what I call a price savings!

This isn't just the Home and Student version that you can sometimes see on sale at $79-$99.

This is the full deal: the suite contains Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook with Business Contact Manager, Accounting Express, Publisher, Access, InfoPath, Groove, and OneNote. It's got the most widely used tools for so many computer functions -- the deal makes me wish I were a college student!

To participate, the student must be enrolled in college and taking at least 0.5 credit hours currently, and must have an e-mail address with a .edu domain. Microsoft claims they will be checking up, and if anyone cannot verify their student status they will be charged the $679 retail price instead, so this is for legit students only.

But if you are a student this can boost your PC's productivity (and thus yours) at a fraction of the regular cost. If you want to check out the offer, click the link below.

They have all sorts of grocery items, from breakfast foods and coffees to soups and stews, and even pet supplies.

And while browsing on the site, I saw a little promotional offer that entitles you to a 1-year subscription to Self magazine (valued at $12) if you spend more than $25 in amazon's Grocery or Health & Beauty stores. But if you choose to forgo the subscription, they actually have an offer where they will send you back $12 instead!

The subscription offer comes to you by e-mail within about a week of placing your order. If you don't order it, you can mail in a form along with your order confirmation within 30 days, and they'll refund you the value of the subscription. Remember, this is your order confirmation, not your receipt, so if you plan to take advantage of this extra $12 deal, remember to print out your order confirmation as soon as it appears after your order is processed. I don't know of any on-line companies that let you reprint the confirmation later, only the receipt. The form and all the details are available at this link.

One more note on the Self deal: to even receive the e-mail offer, your e-mail settings at amazon must be set to allow promotional e-mails. If your preferences are set to not receive promotional e-mails, they wouldn't be sending you this offer.

Regardless of whether you want to tack on the Self $12 refund, it may still be worth your while to check out the various items on clearance and see if you can pick up some items at great savings with the AUGMKDWN code.

The list of eligible items is available by clicking Grocery Clearance.

WiFi HotSpot Finder $11.99 After Rebate

If you've traveled with a laptop and been anywhere outside the most organized spots for WiFi access, you know it can be difficult or frustrating to find access to the internet. Last year I was in Europe looking for spots that the FON network had shown on a map as access points, but we were driving around with the laptop powered on hoping to find a signal -- unsuccessfully.

Rather than powering up your laptop and hoping it finds WiFi access, they make small WiFi finders that allow you a lot more flexibility. Right now, buy.com has dropped the price of the ZyXEL AG225HSP 802.11a/b/g WiFi Finder, 802.11g USB 2.0 Adapter, and Soft Access Point from $79.99 to $26.99. And there's a $15 rebate for purchases until August 17th, making the final net cost down to $11.99. Even the shipping is free.

This item had been in stock a few days ago and quickly sold out. I registered to find ut when it came back available (figuring it would be after the rebate date) but I just got an e-mail and it's back in stock with a couple of days to spare. Keep in mind it was popular once before and may sell out again.

Here's the description:
The AG-225HSP combines an 802.11a/b/g USB 2.0 adapter technology with a fully functional wireless hotspot detector all housed in a sleek device small enough to fit into your pocket. Detect any flavor of wireless network from 802.11a, b, g standards. The dual-band tri-mode USB adapter is equipped with a high contrast LCD screen and built-in LiON battery, allowing you to scan the environment for hotspots without turning on your computer. With WPA and WPA2 support, the AG225HSP can provide a secure wireless connection when used as a 54Mbps high-speed USB wireless adapter. Mac OS support brings the AG225HSP to another level of functionality and compatibility.

To check it out and see if it would be worth having for your travels, click the picture below.

La Vita Bella... Looking to Fly to Italy? Airfare from $536 Roundtrip

If Italy is on your travel destination dream list, Lufthansa has a sale just announced for booking today until 11:59 pm August 14th for travel between late October and mid-December. Fares start as low as $268 each direction from New York; and not much more from many other U.S. departure cities.

You have a choice of many different arrival cities in Italy, not simply the largest airports in Rome or Milan. Examples include Venice, Florence, Bologna or Torino.

The travel dates are from October 27th through the end of the year, but are blacked out from December 12th through 24th. Fares differ by the day of week, so aim for midweek if you can. These fare prices don't include the airport/security fees added the ticket price.

But even after the fees, I was able to find a final price of $665 for New York to/from Milan leaving Wednesday, November 5th returning on November 19th.

Other departure cities can also get you nice deals, with all sorts of choices of arrivals. Samples include:
Houston-Florence: $308
Detroit-Rome: $315
Atlanta-Genoa: $324
San Francisco-Venice: $345
Seattle-Bologna: $351

Remember, these need to be booked by tomorrow night, so if this opens the door to your Italian getaway, don't let the door close on you. Click this link for Lufthansa's Italian special.

Samsung Laser Printer $43.94 After Rebate

Most printers that come with PCs are the ink-jet variety. They can be good for a multitude of uses, but they're a bit slower than laser printers, and their ink will run if the paper gets wet. The price-per-page is also higher than laser printers because of the cost of the ink. But for most home use the ink-jet has remained the printer of choice because of low cost compared to the lasers.

But if you print a lot of black-and-white documents, a small laser printer might be an option worth considering. Particularly if you can find one at a nice price. Right now, buy.com is selling the Samsung ML-2510 Laser Printer for $113.94 (reduced from $149.99). And until August 17th, there's a $70.00 mail-in rebate, making the net a low $43.94. And buy.com throws in the shipping for free.

If you've never bought anything from buy.com yet you can also get $5 more off the purchase by clicking $5 off $100 or more in ALL Stores! New Customer Coupon! exp 08/31/08 and then typing Samsung ML-2510 in the search box. That'll bring your final net down to $38.94.

It's a very compact printer (13.9" x 11.7" x 9.7") and it’s easy to install: all it takes is just four clicks. It features a jam-free roller system. It boasts good speed for a printer in this range: 24 ppm for A4 size, and 25 ppm for letter size. Print resolution is 1,200 x 600 dpi. The ML-2510 is compatible with Windows®, Mac® and Linux® operating systems.

If you think a small laser printer might come in handy, click the picture below for more details.

Planning a Visit to Philadelphia Tourist Attractions? Get a Philadelphia Pass for Savings and Add a 5% Off Coupon Code for More

A while back, I wrote about the New York Pass, a way to get savings while you're on a vacation and want to take in a bunch of tourist attractions. Now, the same company has introduced the Philadelphia Pass for people who want to sample a good chunk of the City of Brotherly Love.

And right now there's a promotional code for an additional 5% off the price of a Pass to heighten the savings.

A pass entitles you to free admission to a wide range of popular attractions, including Franklin Institute Science Museum, National Constitution Center, Lincoln Financial Fields Tour, QVC Tour, Philadelphia Zoo, Lights of Liberty Show, Battleship New Jersey, Longwood Gardens and many more. It even includes the unique Ride the Duck tour that does sightseeing on land and in the water aboard the same vehicle.

There are also additional discounts for dining and shopping in town for even more savings opportunities. The amount of savings you can achieve with a pass depends on how many attractions you want to visit. They have passes available valid for one day, two days, three days or five days, and they are available for adults and children. Today and tomorrow they've also cut the price of the three- and five-day passes by $20 on-line.

You can also get 5% off by applying coupon code 5pc0708. That would bring the price of a three-day pass down from the current sale price of $69.00 (on sale from $89.00) down to $65.55 for adults, and a child's pass down to $52.25. Order your pass by tomorrow to get the best savings.

They aren't inexpensive, but if you're going to visit more than a couple of attractions a day, the savings will exceed the cost of the pass.

To read more and see if this would make your Philadelphia experience more fun, click the following link: Get 5% off any Philadelphia Pass! Use coupon code: 5pc0708

4GB Kingston USB Flash Drive $12.99 with Free Shipping

Anyone who has needed to bring files between PCs has probably given thanks for the creation of USB flash drives. That way you don't need to burn a CD or DVD of the files from one PC and load them on another. These portable little devices just quickly plug in to your USB port to upload the files and once you've transferred them to the other system, you can delete them from the USB drive for the next time you need it.

The capacity of memory on these drives can allow a lot of files to get transferred, allowing big business presentations, major photo file collections and many other files to be conveniently brought with you.

Buy.com has Kingston's 4GB DataTraveler 100 on sale now for $12.99, including free budget shipping. You might find 1GB or maybe 2GB drives at this kind of price at local stores but for 4GB of memory it's a very nice price.

Kingston is a very respected name in memory, so this is a reliable little drive (it even has a five-year warranty). The design is sleek and capless, with the USB connector safely housed inside the case so you don’t have to worry about losing a cap.

Acer 14.1" Notebook with 2GB Memory, 120GB Hard Drive and SuperMulti Dual Layer DVD Drive $399.99

I try and keep an eye on nice deals for PCs and notebooks in case people are in the market, especially with some kids going back to school. Here's a price under $400 after rebate at Office Depot for an Acer® Extensa laptop that's loaded with some nice features.

The model is the Acer® Extensa EX4420-5239 14.1" Widescreen Notebook Computer With AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-57. It's priced at $524.99 and has a $125.00 rebate until August 16th -- plus shipping is free. That makes the cost a very attractive $399.99 (plus tax) for a much-more-than-bare-bones notebook computer.

It comes with 2GB of PC2-5300 DDR2 memory, rather than the 1GB you see on many lower-end notebooks. That extra gig can make a big difference in performance especially with the Vista Home Premium that's already loaded on the system.

Some other highlights:
- 14.1" (diagonal) widescreen WXGA (1280 x 800) CrystalBright™ LCD screen
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processor TK-57 operating at 1.9GHz
- 120GB 5400-rpm Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive
- SuperMulti DVD drive -Double Layer support (reads/writes many format DVDs)
- Acer InviLink™ 802.11b/g wireless LAN
- Ethernet network interface (RJ-45)
- 4 USB 2.0 ports
- 1 FireWire (IEEE 1394) port (not always found on lower-end laptops)
- 1 S-video port
- Fast infrared port
- Integrated 0.3-megapixel webcam, for video chat and still photos
- 5-in-1 memory card reader for SD, MMC, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, xD
- ExpressCard/54 slot: also supports ExpressCard/34
- ATI Radeon X1250 graphics with up to 896MB shared memory
- High Definition Audio with built-in Acer 3DSonic stereo speakers
...and even more.

Acer is one of the systems I've used and have been pleased with the quality and performance. PC's are such a personal preference that you should pick one that fits your own needs and style, as far as screen size, features and such; but for the money, this one seems to offer quite a bit.

One Day Only - August 8th: Restaurant.com 80% Off Promotional Code!

I hope a lot of readers check the blog often, because this offer is off the charts and it's available today (Friday the 8th) only.

For the balance of the day Restaurant.com has a promo code that gets you 80% off their gift certificates. A certificate for $25 of dining usually costs $10, so today you get it for just $2! Paying $2 for $25 is like getting 92% off that portion of your bill!

If you buy a lunchtime $10 certificate, that normally costs $3.00 so with today's promo code it costs all of a whopping 60¢!

The certificates do have some restaurant-specific conditions (i.e. minimum check or minimum number of entrees, etc.) but these are still a great way to try new restaurants or visit a favorite a bit more often.

An 80%? I've never seen their promos that deep. The code for today is FIRST and it expires at midnight. Don't forget to hit 'apply' after you enter the promo code during checkout so you actually see the savings before placing the order.
