For my friends who live in Long Island, traveling out of Islip Airport can be more convenient than running to Kennedy or LaGuardia in New York City. Well, Spirit Airlines has just announced new service out of Islip, and to celebrate, they have fares on several days in May and June for $7 to/from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. So if you can get dates to match up in both directions, you can fly roundtrip to the Sunshine State for $14 (plus security/airport fees)!
$7 dates from Islip to Ft. Lauderdale: 5/6, 5/7, 5/13, 5/14, 6/3, 6/4
$7 dates from Ft. Lauderdale to Islip: 5/7, 5/8, 5/14, 5/15, 6/4, 6/5
They have lots of other destinations with good prices from Islip, and other special offers from Columbia SC -- but the $14 Islip-Floria combination is eye-popping. So hopefully, some of you Long Islanders will be able to swing a quick escape!
Tickets have to be purchased by March 1st, but I'm sure seats are limited and will go fast. So if these appeal to you, check 'em out quickly.
