Restaurant.com Promo Code - 70% Off All Orders Through End of March

It seems that this month has been filled with promotional codes from restaurant.com. For anyone still looking to get discount dining certificates, you still have a chance to get some extra savings on top of what you're already saving with their discount dining certificates.

If you've been reading my blog for any length of time, I've explained how the certificates work a few times, but if you're a newbie, here's the lowdown. If you know all about it and just want the promo code, skip ahead to the bottom of this post.

Restaurant.com has thousands of participating restaurants all over the country. At the restaurant.com website you can shop for dining certificates at those restaurants, typically offered in two denominations, $25 and $10. The standard price for these are $10 to buy a $25 certificate and $3 to buy a $10 certificate.

Each restaurant assigns whatever conditions they want to the certificates' use. Typically, it's for a minimum amount spent, and sometimes a minimum number of entrees. Many of the restaurants require a $35 minimum check to redeem a $25 certificate; many of the $10 certificates (often valid at lunch time) require a $20 minimum check. The restaurant-specific requirements are posted on the site before you buy it so you won't be surprised as long as you read it on the website before ordering.

You just present this certificate at the restaurant and they take that amount off your bill. A pretty cool way of saving some bucks when you're dining out. You should tip on the pre-discount total, though, since the server did provide you the full service (some restaurants just make sure to add a tip on the pre-certificate check amount).

They also have a Dinner-of-the-Month club that gets you a certificate every month for 3, 6 or 12 months, depending on the length you join. It's good in that you get the discounts but you can select the specific restaurants later.

Dining certificates are valid for a year and you can use them at any particular restaurant no more than once a month.

The standard savings get you $15 net savings on a dinner check (i.e. you paid $10 but saved) or $7 on a lunch check.

But the neat thing is to catch restaurant.com when they have promos going on -- such as now when they are offering 70% off. You can get a $25 certificate for just $3 instead of $10, meaning you can save $22 on dinner. A $10 lunch certificate is just 90¢ so you're saving over $9 on lunch. It's a really valuable way to save on your dining expenses.

The Dinner of the Month Club is also offered at a discount, and this is a really good tip: a lot of times, the promo sales are toward the end of the month when many popular restaurants have sold out their allotment of certificates. But you can get the discount now on Dinner-of-the-Month and then redeem those certificates for the more popular restaurants early in a month when a new allotment is issued.

Well, that's a lot of the info on the program (there are always a few more, but this can't go on forever). I've used restaurant.com for a few years now, and I've discovered some new great restaurants and also eaten at some favorites a few more times than I ordinarily would have. I really recommend them.

Now, for the promo code, enter the word SAVE during checkout and then hit the 'apply' button -- you'll see the price in your cart drop by 70%. The code is valid for the rest of the month.

To go to restaurant.com and look for restaurants or to order a Dinner-of-the-Month, click 70% off with every order. Use code SAVE thru 3/31/09.
