Update July 10th - The free $10 credit to open an account described in the original post is no longer available. But The Doors 90-Song Perception collection is still at Rhapsody for just $9.99, a bargain considering how many great songs you get. The link to that album is at the bottom of the post.
If you'd like to build up your music collection on MP3s, Rhapsody has a promotion going on where they are offering a $10 credit for new accounts. The first 100,000 to sign up for a new account can claim this credit, but the $10 credit must be used by July 4th. There's a limit of one credit per household so if there's an e-mail account at your home that isn't a Rhapsody member you can sign up under that e-mail.
$10 is enough credit for a free album or ten individual tracks.
You can even find special amazing offers on Rhapsody, such as Perception by The Doors, with 90 songs, all yours for the $9.99 (so if you sign up and make that your purchase, you've gotten 90 songs gratis!).
The new Rhapsody MP3 Store lets you listen to entire songs before you buy, has recommendations, and delivers high-quality MP3s that you can play on your iPod or any other MP3 player.
You have to enter credit card information to register, but your card is not charged anything.
Who knows how long it will take for 100,000 to sign up? If you're interested, move on over to Rhapsody's offer.
And if you're a fan of The Doors and want to look at Perception as your choice, here's a link to that album (but sign up for your free offer first).
