Here's a very nice price on the Navigon 2100 GPS system, which is one of the GPS systems I've used and with which I've been quite pleased. Staples if offering this item for $119.99, and there's a $20.00 rebate (paid as a Visa debit card) making the final net a nice $99.99. The price and rebate are valid for purchases until September 27th.
I've liked this unit for the text-to-speech, which tells me the name of the road on which to turn, as opposed to just saying "turn left here." On some highways, I've also found the reality view helpful -- it displays an image of the road signs at major highway intersections or exits so you can anticipate the lanes of the highway you should be steering toward.
When I bought the unit (Black Friday 2007) it also included a lifetime traffic subscription, but that isn't included in the price here. But it's optional if you want to add it on, as well as a Fodor's review service if you want to have it help with restaurant reviews of nearby places to eat when you're traveling.
The Navigon 2100 features:
- Preloaded maps of the continental US (lower 48 states)
- 3.5" full color LCD touch screen
- Text-to-speech provides clear driving instructions with actual street names
- Reality View™ provides photo-realistic 3D view of complex highway interchanges
- Speed Assistant displays your speed and can warn you if you exceed the limit
- Millions of points of interest
I think it's a nice package at this price point, so if you're looking for a GPS for yourself or as a gift, click here to check it out.
