Spirit Airlines has unveiled their latest promotional fare sale, with many city-pairs as low as $9 each way on many specific dates in December and January. If you can match specific dates on both legs, you could get a roundtrip for $18. To get the $9 fares you need to be (or become) a member of their $9 fare club. Without membership, those same dates are available for $29 each way -- but since annual membership is $39.95, you can basically get the fare and membership for the cost of a non-member roundtrip.
These fares are only on sale till 11:59 pm on December 9th, so if you want to check out any possible travel you want to do it quickly.
For those of you who haven't heard of Spirit, they're a discount airlines whom I flew to Las Vegas roundtrip for two cents! The service was fine; you just had to pay for services ala carte, i.e. pay for beverages, pay for a checked bag etc. That was in the days when the major airlines weren't doing that, so it seemed the discount was the price you paid for the lesser free services on board. But now that most airlines are tacking on all of the same fees, there doesn't seem to be as much difference.
The city-pairs for which they have $9 fares (or $29 non-member) include:
Atlantic City - Fort Lauderdale
Atlantic City - Myrtle Beach
Atlantic City - Orlando
Boston - Fort Lauderdale
Boston - Myrtle Beach
Atlanta - Fort Lauderdale
Chicago - Fort Lauderdale
Columbia SC - Fort Lauderdale
Detroit - Cancun
Detroit - Las Vegas
Detroit - Los Angeles
Detroit - New York (LaGuardia)
New York (LaGuardia) - Fort Lauderdale
New York (LaGuardia) - Myrtle Beach
San Antonio - Fort Lauderdale

The $9/$29 fares don't include airport/security fees. To check out all the dates available and to try and score some of these tickets, click this link.
