Free Star Wars Pocket Models

The next big thing coming in the Star Wars universe is the Clone Wars movie opening in mid-August. And with any big movie, there are going to be collectibles that the kids will like having.

WizKids has a promotion offering a free sample pack of their PocketModels. These are small cards that you punch out and assemble, into small models of the ships seen in the Star Wars adventures. There are also trading cards featuring many of the characters who've become legendary heroes (or villains).

To get a free sample pack (containing two trading cards and up to four units), click this link and then enter your zip code and you get a page that has a printable coupon and the stores near you that can carry these sample packs. (Most of the stores appear to be Toys 'R' Us.)

The coupon is valid till the end of August, but I have a feeling the supply of free samples won't last till then. So if you're interested in acquiring these free collectible items, you may want to move fast.

Hotel Savings at Starwood Hotels: W, Four Points, Westin, Sheraton, Meridien Hotels

Doing some traveling in August and September? If you're looking for a hotel stay, the Starwood line of hotels has a sale going on throughout their chain. That includes a lot of brand-name hotels such as W, Westin, Four Points, Sheraton and more. So you can find some deals that fit the type of hotel fitting your travel style.

The sale lasts until August 5th, with rates cut as much as 50% at some hotels throughout the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean.

Some examples:
- $79: Westin Mission Hills Resort & Spa, Palm Springs CA (Reg. $139)
- $169: W Seattle (Reg. $338)
- $239: Sheraton Manhattan at Times Square (Reg. $339)
- $120: Sheraton Princess Kaiulani, Oahu (Reg. $189)
- $139: The Westin Aruba Resort (Reg. $215)

There are a ton of hotels to check out, and savings vary by weekday at various locations, but if you're traveling in the next two months, it may be worth checking this out before August 5th.

p.s. if your travels are to the mid-Atlantic region and you have a 2-day or 3-day stay, don't forget to compare these to using the birth-year promotion about which I posted a few days ago.

Tahiti from New York $986 Roundtrip -- Plus a Hotel Special

Travelzoo is a great source of specials -- if you don't subscribe yet I suggest you do. Even if I can't go on the trips I like to see what amazing travel offers they find, even just for daydreaming purposes. Tahiti has always been one of my dream destinations, and Travelzoo's newsletter shows a very attractive roundtrip airfare on Air Tahiti Nui from New York to Papeete of $986 roundtrip!

Travel is good through October 31st and the tickets have to be booked by the end of August -- but if this is one you want to take advantage of, I'd hurry because seats may get sold out well before the end of August. Travelzoo indicates the lowest prices are for departures on Mondays or Fridays with stays of six nights.

Airport and security fees/taxes (about $89) are additional.

They also have fares where you can travel on to other locations throughout Tahiti if you want to see a few different spots of this exotic destination.

The Travelzoo information also notes a special at the Sofitel Tahiti Maeva Beach Resort for a very attractive $134 per night. I checked that website and saw that's for a mountain-view room but you can get a room with a lagoon-view for about another $20/night.

To see the Travelzoo notes about this great Tahiti airfare deal (plus the note on the hotel), click this link.

Free Access to eBooks Until August 4th

I wish I had found this deal earlier in July when the month of free access began, but there are still a few days left for people who love reading and want to check out some ebooks.

There's a site on-line called www.worldebookfair.org and from July 4th through August 4th access to their library of ebooks is free. There are books of all kinds from all sorts of sources, with reference books, fiction and non-fiction, children's books, sheet music and much more.

The theme of this year's fair is Own Your Own Library and it promises 1 million-plus books free for the taking.

As of July 4, 2008, these were the approximate numbers:
100,000+ from Project Gutenberg
500,000+ from the World Public Library
450,000+ from the Internet Archive
160,000+ from eBooks About Everything
17,000+ from International Music Score Library Project (sheet music)
That's a total of 1,227,000+ with more being added every day!

Here's a press release about the free month. If you want to join the project on a continuing basis afterwards, it's $8.95 annually, still a great price for a year of access to a ton of information. But getting it for free for the next week? Why not check it out at www.worldebookfair.org?

Spirit Airlines $16 Roundtrips for Booking Today

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you've probably seen a few posts about specials on Spirit Airlines. They occasionally have amazingly low airfares for sale quickly that are good for flights on specific dates. If you can pair up the departure and return dates, you can get roundtrips for a big bargain. We were able to make a roundtrip to Las Vegas for just 2¢ one time.

They have some $8 one-way fares available for booking today before midnight. Unlike some of the others I've posted in the past, these are available if you're a member of their $9 fare club. But if you find a fare and dates you like, it might still be worth joining -- they have a 60-day trial for $9 (or you can get their credit card and be a member for free). If you travel their itineraries with any regularity, the membership in the club may be worth getting so you're in line for future savings.

Some of the $8 one way fares include:
Atlantic City to Myrtle Beach 9/13, 9/28, 9/30, 10/18, 10/19, 10/20, 10/21, 10/27
Myrtle Beach to Atlantic City 9/4, 9/11, 9/24, 10/2, 10/25, 10/27, 10/29, 10/31

Atlantic City to Tampa 11/8, 11/9, 11/10, 11/12, 11/13, 11/15
Tampa to Atlantic City 11/1, 11/3, 11/6, 11/7, 11/8, 11/10

Boston to Fort Lauderdale 8/24, 8/29, 9/17, 9/25, 10/6, 10/29
Fort Lauderdale to Boston 8/7, 8/17, 9/27, 9/29, 10/11, 10/16

Boston to Myrtle Beach 11/2, 11/3, 11/8, 11/10, 11/11, 11/14
Myrtle Beach to Boston 11/1, 11/3, 11/5, 11/6, 11/7, 11/13

New York to Fort Lauderdale 9/12, 9/13, 9/15, 9/19, 9/26, 9/27
Fort Lauderdale to New York 9/13, 9/23, 9/26, 9/28, 9/29, 9/30

New York to Myrtle Beach 8/28, 8/31, 9/15, 9/16, 9/20, 9/23
Myrtle Beach to New York 9/10, 9/19, 9/20, 9/24, 9/25, 9/26

Airport/security fees are added to the $8 fare as with all airfares you find.

They have other cities with $8 fares available, including Detroit, Atlanta, San Antonio, Washington DC and Columbia SC. To see everything that's on sale, click this link.

Kingston 1GB MicroSD Card with 2 Adapters $3.99 with Free Shipping

To enhance versatility, there seem to be more SD cards that come out in a micro size with adapters to allow their use in devices that use miniSD or regular-size SD cards. Kingston is a top name in the field of computer memory, so find a nice price on one of their cards is extra nice.

Right now, Newegg is selling Kingston's 1GB MicroSD Flash Card w/2 Adapters Model SDC/1GB-2ADP for just $3.99. No rebates, that's the price. And they're including free shipping as well.

The card gets excellent reviews at the site, and for $3.99 to your door, it's less than you might pay for a gallon of gas to a local store only to find a much higher price.

If you want to take a look and perhaps order, click this link.

Jos. A. Bank Extra 50% Off All Clearance Sale Until August 2nd

If you'd like to shop for some nice-quality men's wear, now might be a good time to get over to Jos. A. Bank. Now through Saturday, they are taking an additional 50% off items on clearance. This includes a wide array of suits, sport coats, pants, shirts, formal wear, and more. Even underwear and socks! This could be a good chance to buff up that business wardrobe so you look like you deserve a nice raise.

If you spend over $175, shipping is free. They really have a wide assortment of men's clothes with some eye-catching prices. As an example, I looked under Suit Separates, and they have the Classic 2-Button Business Express Jacket reduced to $14.50 from an original price of $395.00. It's probably sold for less than $395 for some time, but still, $14.50 for a jacket (and they have suit pants at a similar price too).

To take a look at their 50% off clearance, click this link before August 2nd and see what would make you (or your man) look sharper.

Half-Price on Certificates for Fine New York Restaurants

Update August 14th -- Just checked for this week's update: Solace (406 E 64th) and Aegean Cove (Astoria) have been added to this week's list of available certificates; AJ Maxwell's and Destino also are available.

If you live in or around New York City, here's another way to experience some wonderful dining while enjoying some nice savings. WPIX CW11 TV is running a promotion enabling you to buy two $50.00 gift certificates ($100.00 total value) for some upscale restaurants for $50.00.

You can only use one certificate to visit, so you'd need to visit that restaurant twice between now and June 2009 to get the $100 combined value. But these are the kinds of restaurants you'd probably enjoy visiting more than once anyway.

Each week WPIX will feature a Restaurant-of-the-week. At 8:00 AM Thursday, they open up the on-line store for that week's restaurant. But you have to be fast - they're only able to provide a limited number of gift certificates per week.

Right now, you can buy two certificates at the following restaurants:
Sofrito
Butterfield8
Destino
AJ Maxwell’s Steakhouse
Ninos

To order certificates for these or to keep tabs on what restaurants they add each week, here's a link to the offer.

Decent Price on High-Speed 2GB SD Card $12.95 After Rebate

Update July 28 -- Wow, Amazon changes their prices quickly! When I posted this last night, they were selling this high-speed 2GB card for $25.20 ($5.20 after rebate). If you were able to buy one at that price, terrific, because this morning it's moved up to $32.95, making the post-rebate net $12.95. Still a decent price but not as good as the $5.20 net when I originally posted.

A 2GB card gives you a lot of capacity for digital photos or tons of music, and getting one with high-speed of data transfer is a nice feature. How about a price of $5.20 after rebate with free shipping in the bargain? That's available now at amazon.com, on the Kingston Technology 2GB Secure Digital Ultimate Memory Card which has a speed of 120x.

They're selling this card from one of the top name brands of memory devices for $25.20 -- and since it's over $25.00 it qualifies for free budget shipping. There's a $20.00 mail-in rebate on the amazon website for orders placed by July 31st. So that brings the final net cost down to $5.20.

For 2GB of powerful, quick memory, that's not a lot to spend. To check it out, here's a link: Kingston Technology 2 GB SecureDigital Ultimate Memory Card (SD/2GB-U, Retail Package)

Free Sample of Stevia - All-Natural Alternative to Sugar

I know some of my readers know about Stevia and use it as a sweetener alternative to sugar. For those who've never heard of it (I hadn't until a few months ago), it's a plant with a high degree of sweetness, and can be used as a healthier alternative to cane sugar. Since it's a natural substance and not a man-made chemical, it doesn't pose some of the risks associated with many of the artificial sweeteners on the market. But it does give the advantage of being calorie free!

If you would be interested in checking out whether Stevia might be a worthwhile change to sweeten your coffee, tea etc., or for use in cooking, you can get a free sample by visiting Stevita. You can register at their site by clicking this link.

While at their site you can also read about the background of the plant extract and the benefits of using it.

Logitech Speakers for Your iPod, Zune or Other MP3 Player Just $14.99 After Rebates

With the advent of MP3 players many people now have major music collections on those tiny devices. And while they may have originally been meant to play music while you're traveling, it's nice to be able to listen to that music at home through speakers, not just via headphones.

Circuit City has a nice deal going for the Logitech X-240 Speakers which are designed to interface with your MP3 player. They've knocked the price down a few bucks from $53.99 down to $49.99. There's a $10 rebate on these through Logitech, and then Circuit City has their own $20 rebate, bringing the net expenditure down to $19.99.

And through tomorrow, July 26th, you can take another 10% ($5.00) off the original price by using their Friends and Family coupon code 8MAJTZLA9L at checkout. That brings your final net cost down to $14.99. Not bad for a nice pair of speakers for your MP3.

If you prefer, these speakers can also be hooked to your PC to add more bass and quality of sound. The Logitech X-240 has a 15-watt subwoofer and two 5-watt satellite speakers.

Both rebates are valid for purchases through July 26th. Shipping is free or you can order on-line then pick yours up at a local Circuit City store.

To take a look, click Logitech X-240 Speakers for iPod, Zune, MP3 or PC.

Nextar GPS with Text-to-Speech and MP3 $99.99

In the market for a small GPS but want features like text-to-speech and MP3 capability? You may want to check buy.com which is selling the Nextar X3-T 3.5" Slim Navigation System with MP3 and Text-To-Speech for just $99.99 right now. This is about $40-$50 less than you pay for equivalent systems.

As a GPS user who has tried systems with and without text-to-speech, I prefer the text-to-speech which prompts you with the street name at which to turn, not just saying, "turn left here." Sometimes it can help avoid a mistake when there are two nearby roads and you're not sure onto which one the GPS intends for you to turn.

The Nextar X3-T includes 1.6 million points of interest to help find nearby gas stations, hotels, restaurants, etc. It also plays MP3 and WMA files from an SD memory card. The GPS includes a rechargeable lithium ion battery, in-car adapter/charger and home adapter/charger.

For a small GPS with some nice features, it might be worth taking a look. Just click on the picture below.

Starwood Hotels Sheraton/Westin/Four Points Mid-Atlantic Promotion Tied in to the Year of Your Birth

Right now, Starwood Hotels who also run Sheraton, Westin and Four Points Hotels/Resorts are running a unique promotion throughout participating hotels in the Mid-Atlantic States and Washington, DC. With a two-night or three-night stay, you pay a regular rate for the first night; then the second and third nights are based on the last two digits of your birth year.

So as an example, if you were born in 1945, your first night would be a regular rate (varies per hotel) and then nights two and three would cost you $45 a night. If you were born in 1965, the second and third nights would come to $65 each night.

The rate plan to book the rooms is BIRTHYR.

Depending on your age, the savings could really be something and maybe make it easier to stay at a nicer hotel for a two-day or three-day trip.

They have participating hotels in New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virgina and Washington DC.

The promo can be seen at their Mid-Atlantic website.

Here are some of the conditions:
- valid at participating Starwood Hotels & Resorts in the Mid-Atlantic.
- valid for reservations booked and completed before December 31, 2008.
- reservations may be made online or by calling 866-716-8114 and mentioning rate plan BIRTHYR.
- minimum stay of two nights is required.
- maximum stay of three consecutive nights applies.
- rate for the first night varies per hotel, per room, per night.
- rates for the second and third night of the stay will be confirmed at check-in upon presentation of valid ID and confirmation of birth year.

- eligible stay is defined as two to three consecutive nights paying a qualifying rate in the same hotel regardless of the number of check-in or check-outs that occur.
- rates are per room, per night, based on single/double occupancy and availability at time of reservation and do not include additional per room, per night charges that may be imposed or state/local taxes.
- a limited number of rooms may be available at these rates.

Restaurant.com Promo code - 70% Off Till the End of July

For new readers of my blog, restaurant.com is one of the popular offers which people have used to get some real savings when dining out. They offer certificates at thousands of restaurants across the U.S. entitling you to a $25 credit toward your check, and the regular price is $10 for a certificate. Some restaurants also offer a $10 certificate (generally valid at lunch time) for $3. Each restaurant has the conditions for use: sometimes it's to have a minimum check of $35 before using the certificate; sometimes it requires the purchase of two entrees, or has a minimum number of diners. I usually find the conditions not overly difficult to meet if you're going out to a restaurant for a nice dinner.

With the certificates you're already getting $15 more of dining value than you paid... but here's the extra savings benefit: at various times throughout the year, they offer a promo code that gets you a big discount off the regular certificate price. And that's where we are today until the end of the month. Certificates they still have available can now be had at 70% off the regular price if you apply a promo code at checkout.

The current promo code is CRAVE. You enter it at checkout and hit 'apply' to see the total recalculated.

That means a certificate for $25 dining credit is yours for just $3! A $10 certificate is yours for 90¢!

So let's say you go to a restaurant where the bill is $35... you would pay $10 and use your $25 certificate for the balance, meaning your $35 meal ended up being just $13 out of pocket ($10 + $3 for the certificate), plus any tax and tip. To be fair to the server, remember to do your tipping calculation on the amount of the original check.

Chances are good they have a few restaurants near you, so you can use this to go out more often to one you enjoy or maybe try a new restaurant you haven't visited yet.

Certificates are valid for a year, and if you buy several for the same restaurant, you can use just one a month at any specific restaurant. You print them out on-line so there are no delivery charges.

At 70% off, it's as deep as I've ever seen the discount go, so why not head over to restaurant.com and look for choices in your area? And remember to use the promo code CRAVE before you check out.

McAfee Total Protection Security Software for Up to 3 Users - Free or Better If Upgrading/Switching

One bit of software that you can keep up-to-date without draining your wallet is security software. The various companies offer various rebate programs throughout the year if you are upgrading their prior version or switching from a competitors version.

Using this method, I've had virus/firewall/internet protection going for free over the last five years. In fact, if you include a purchase I made of several software items when Staples had an extra coupon off a large amount purchase, I actually have gotten more back for all my security software than I originally paid .

Right now, buy.com is selling McAfee Total Protection w/Site Advisor Plus (3 User) reduced from $79.99 down to just $19.99, with free budget shipping as well. There's also an upgrader/competitor rebate for $35.00 that's valid till the end of 2008. Now it's possible that this could result in getting back $15.01 more than you paid. But the conditions also indicate the rebate won't exceed the purchase price. If the rebate processing sticks to that they might only send back $19.99. But even if that's the case, you've picked up your next year of security protection for free. And isn't free a nice thing?

What's also nice, as many people have more than one PC in the home, is that this software is licensed for up to three users, so you don't have to buy multiple copies.

This security software:
- Stops Viruses: Automatically blocks, cleans, and removes viruses.
- Blocks Spyware: Blocks spyware before it installs and removes existing spyware.
- Stops Hackers: Conceals your computer from hackers to surf the Internet safely.
- Secures your Identity: Protects your online identity so you can shop or bank
- Prevents Spam & E-mail Scams: Prevents spam and phishing scams
- Improves PC Performance: Cleans clutter off of your computer.
- Backs Up & Restores Files: Automated backup and one click restore.
- Protects Children Online: Filters offensive content and Web sites
- Image Analysis helps protecting against potentially offensive pictures
- Eliminates Network Hassles: Easily lets you share files and printers.
- Protects your Wireless Network: Blocks hackers from attacking your Wi-Fi network

The rebate form is not linked on their product webpage for some reason, so here is a link to the rebate form.

To check out and maybe purchase the software, click the picture below.

Restaurant.com Promo Code - 60% Off - Valid Until July 20th

Well, it's beginning to get to the time of the month when Restaurant.com starts unveiling some promo codes, offering a further discount off their dining certificates. This time the code is for 60% off the regular price. Thus you can get a certificate giving $25 worth of dining credit at a restaurant for just $4.00 instead of the usual $10.00. And a certificate for $10 of credit (generally for lunchtime) is just $1.20 instead of $3.00.

The promo code this time is ALLSTAR and it's valid for purchases till July 20th.

There's a chance there'll be a later certificate in any month when they have a promo in mid-month, but sometimes the most popular places can get sold out -- so you can decide whether to make the purchase at 60% or maybe even wait in hope of a better one. No guarantee there'll be another sale at perhaps 70%, though.

Here's a link to their website.

If you want to read about how the certificates work, check my earlier posts about restaurant.com in the left column index.

Free Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb

You've probably seen (and maybe already use) those light bulbs with the twist shape. They use fluorescent instead of incandescent light and save a lot of energy. Well, there's a project called "The Million Lights Project" which is giving away 1,000,000 of these compact fluorescent bulbs. It's sponsored by a group called Greener Impact.

Even if you just switch one incandescent light bulbs to a compact fluorescent, you can reduce your carbon footprint by approximately 400 pounds over the life of the bulb. And along the way, save cash on your electric bills. If all one million bulbs replaced one million incandescent ones, a collective savings of more than 400,000 megawatt hours could be generated. This is the equivalent of powering almost 60,000 homes.

Their goal had been to get the million bulbs registered by Earth Day but the site is still active and taking registrations. All you have to do is enter your mailing address and e-mail. They then send you an e-mail in which you click a link to confirm, and they'll send you a bulb in the mail. Their site indicates it may take a while to get your bulb, but if you can get one for free, why not take the wait?

Their privacy policy indicates they won't do anything with the information but send you a bulb -- however I still use a back-up e-mail address (not my primary personal address) when I sign up for things like this.

One other note... compact fluorescent bulbs contain mercury, so when it comes time to dispose of them, you can't just throw them in the trash; they need to be disposed of properly.

Save on Energy Costs: Portable Hot Water Dispenser for $34.99 -- Bonus 4-Cup Coffeemaker Deal

With the rising costs of energy as well as a focus on conservation, useful gadgets around the home can come in handy, even in taking small steps. One functional device that can help reduce some energy usage is a portable hot water dispenser. These units are more effective at providing a quick source for hot water than using a kettle on the stove. While some gadgets require undersink installation and might be more appropriate for when you're doing a larger kitchen job, here is a portable unit that can get you many of the benefits right away.

Newegg is offering a portable Tatung THWP-3L Electronic Hot Water Dispenser for $54.99, with a rebate of $20.00 for purchases through tomorrow, July 15th. Free 3-Business-Day shipping is also included for this item.

But there's a hidden bonus: they have a combo offer of this portable heater and a Tatung CM-100 4-cup coffeemaker for the same $54.99 price, meaning the coffeemaker is added in for free. This combo deal is shown in the bottom left column of the product page.

This hot water dispenser may enable you to get quick use of hot water more conveniently than now without the expense of installing an under-sink unit, saving on some energy costs, whether heating in on the stove or waiting for hot water to come out of your tap.

To give some more background, here are two posts I found at other sites which discuss the energy savings of portable dispensers:
Advantage of portable dispensers over kettles
Hot water dispensers are convenient, save time and money

So if you'd like to check out the dispenser at Newegg (and also see the combo bonus shown on the page), click this link.

Remember, this one is quick, the rebate is valid only on purchases till tomorrow.

Oil Change and Tire Rotation Coupon for $14.99 at Firestone

Regular oil changes are one essential to keep your engine running long and strong. Tire rotation helps them last longer and wear more evenly. So we all have to do it and it usually costs in the range of $25 for an oil change and an extra $10 or so to rotate the tires at the same time.

Firestone has an on-line coupon you can print out that is redeemable for these two auto maintenance essentials for just $14.99. That's about half what you'd expect to pay for this combo elsewhere. The coupon is valid if used by July 21st and valid for most vehicles.

- lubricate chassis (if applicable)

MicroSD Cards on Sale Direct from Kingston, with Free Shipping Too: 1GB $4; 2GB $10; 4GB $21

Update July 21st -- The 1GB MicroSD card is now $5.00 rather than $4.00; the price ofthe 2GB card has dropped from $10.00 to $9.00. The 4GB with adapters is still ast $21.00.

Kingston is one of the reliable brands of memory devices and their items have been on sale at a number of stores, but right now you can get great prices dealing directly with Kingston. Their website has special promo offers for MicroSD cards in 1GB, 2GB and 4GB sizes, and they also are having a free shipping offer as well. You can get some nice MicroSD cards for your device that uses the MicroSD size unit.

Note that this promo is for a MicroSD card, and the 1GB and 2GB size promos are for the MicroSD only -- they don't include adapters that would enable its use in a device that uses regular size SD or miniSD cards. The 4GB promo is for a kit that includes not only a 4GB card but also adapters for SD or miniSD slots making this much more flexible.

Their 1GB card has been dropped in price for this promo to just $4.00. The 2GB is down to $10.00 and the 4GB card + adapters is priced at $21.00. If you spend more than $30.00 on your order, they will also throw in for free a 1GB Kingston Data Traveler USB Flash Drive!

Here's a link to the 1GB MicroSD Card.
Here's a link to the 2GB MicroSD Card.
Here's a link to the 4GB MicroSD Card with the two adapters.
And if you're ordering over $30, here's a link to the free flash drive.

These are promotional prices and the site doesn't indivcate how long they'll last. So if you could use a MicroSD card or two, I'd head on over before too long.

8GB USB Flash Drive $19.99 After Rebate

Here's a nice after-rebate price on a USB drive with a really high capacity: buy.com is selling the OCZ Diesel 8GB Flash Drive for $34.99, $5 off the list price of $39.99. And for purchases until July 16th, they have a $15 mail-in rebate. Throw in free shipping and that makes your final net price $19.99.

That's a lot of memory for less than $20. This drive would let you load a ton of pictures or music for all sorts of applications.

If an 8GB would be a handy size for you, why not take a look at the OCZ Diesel by clicking the picture below?

OCZ 8GB Diesel USB 2.0 Flash Drive

8GB USB Flash Drive $10.99 from Amazon

Update July 11th -- Wow that was quick! The $10.99 availability has already disappeared off amazon. I'm reposting the $19.99 after rebate deal if anyone is still looking for a good price on an 8GB USB drive.

I had just found a post-rebate price of $19.99 for an 8GB USB Flash Drive, which was a very good price. But then I stumbled across an even better deal from amazon.com. They are selling the Kingston DT101N 8GB DataTraveler 101 with Secure Traveler for $10.99 right now.

Occasionally finding things on-line at amazon can bring weird results. If you search for this item, an amazon search reveals this item being sold for over $32 by a different vendor. But underneath it shows that others are available from $10.99. Clicking there brings up a screen showing that you can buy it new for $10.99 and the seller is amazon.com itself! Why they don't show themselves and their lowest price on the main product page is something I don't understand.

But getting 8GB on a flash drive will allow you a ton of files, photos and music to be used and moved around. Kingston is a highly regarded name in memory products. And getting it for less than $11 is really sweet.

Shipping would be free if you can combine this with other items and bring your order total over $25.

I don't know how long amazon will keep the price this low, so if you're looking for this size flash drive, I'd visit quickly by clicking Kingston 8GB Data Traveler.

4GB USB Flash Drive $9.99 with Free Shipping

On the prowl for a flash drive with a good amount of capacity? Newegg is selling the Super Talent 4GB Flash Drive for just $9.99 and they have free shipping thrown into the deal as well.

I've dealt with Newegg several times and have always been pleased with their promptness.

This model features:
- strong aluminum body design
- glossy black plastic cap
- hot Plug and Play
- supports Password Protection

If you could use a flash drive with 4GB of space for your file transfers, music, photos and more, take a look at the Newegg offer at this link.

Baseball/Softball Gear on Sale $9.99

If you play baseball or softball and want to check out some great sale prices on sports gear, you may want to head over to Eastbay. They have a wide array of shoes and clothes available that's been discounted down to the low price of $9.99.

I'm not talking about sports clothing like replica jerseys of pro sports teams -- these are items for playing the sport.

They have baseball shoes reduced from as much as $84.99 down to just $9.99. And there's a wide array of baseball and softball shirts and pants marked down to that same $9.99.

Here's a link to the shoes they have at $9.99.
Here's a link to the clothes they have at $9.99.

Batter up!

Complete Led Zeppelin (165 Tracks) on MP3 for $9.99

Looking to build up your music library? Rhapsody is offering The Complete Led Zeppelin, with 165 tracks, for purchase as an album for just $9.99. That's about the price you'd pay for ten tracks individually.

Of course no one would buy all 165 tracks individually so it doesn't make sense to say the tracks bought separately would cost over $160. But if you like classic rock in general and especially if you love Led Zeppelin, chances are that you could find twenty, thirty or even more tracks in this collection that you'll love having on your iPod, Zune or other MP3 player.

So buying this collection as a whole can be a nice bargain.

And 16 of the tracks are available only with the complete album purchase, so without the entire album you wouldn't be able to get them separately.

Larger-Screen GPS with MP3 and Text-to-Speech $119.99

For anyone who wants to get a GPS system but wants a bit more visibility of the maps than the smallest systems, buy.com is offering a GPS with a 4.3 inch screen at a very low price of $119.99. This is lower than most of the prices I've seen for GPS systems that come with a 3.5" screen. Plus, this unit offers text-to-speech, which pronounces the names of streets where it wants you to turn. I've found text-to-speech a handy feature compared to GPS systems that just say, "turn left now."

The system on sale is the Nextar X4-T GPS In-Car Navigation System and it's reduced from $299.99 down to $119.99. It's shipped free as well.

This unit features
- Built-in USA maps
- 1GB Built-in Flash Memory
- 1.6 million points of interest
- 4.3 inch color display
- Text-to-speech (says street names)
- MP3 functionality (use SD card slot to listen to your music)
- convenient vent mount
- rechargeable lithium ion battery

With the price of gas, you can actually save a little mileage on your car by not getting lost or finding nearby gas stations quickly as opposed to just driving and hoping...

Who knows how long it will take for 100,000 to sign up? If you're interested, move on over to Rhapsody's offer.

And if you're a fan of The Doors and want to look at Perception as your choice, here's a link to that album (but sign up for your free offer first).
