Black Friday -- Yes, I Did...

Got back home at 7:30 am this morning having been at three stores for some Black Friday shopping (yes, I was at a store at 4:00 am). I avoid the stores with the mega-crowds and the ones where people camp out all night hoping to get one of the limited number of low-priced big-ticket items they carry to get people in the door. I heard people were lined up around the entire exterior of one local Walmart. The line at BestBuy was also very long when I drove one of those. Tonight I heard on the news that one man was actually trampled to death at a Walmart opening this morning. Yikes!

Rather than looking at the most popular stores or the mega-electronics places, my strategy for Black Friday the last couple of years has been to aim at some stores that were on the smaller-scale or not as electronics oriented. I also try and find locations that are not in the giant shopping centers. That way, the lines (if any) are usually a little more manageable.

So this morning at 4:05 I was at a local InkStop that had opened at 4:00 (no waiting, about three people inside) and picked up a 7" digital frame for $29.95 (the lowest price I saw among all the Black Friday ads) I scanned the other specials and picked up a few other small items that will fill out the Christmas gift list. It was close enough to opening time at other stores to keep going.

I then drove over to a Home Depot where they had a nice deal on Ryobi power tools (a low-price combo kit along with a bonus free choice of another power tool). I figured that most people would be out for electronics or clothes and hopefully no line would be waiting at Home Depot. Sure enough there wasn't, and then they opened the front doors a little early. The employees there were really very helpful and cheerful, and showed me where the specials were. In fact the free tools were selling at more than the free combo kit, so I ended up getting two of the combos and two free tools -- the cashier was amazed since their register showed the amount I was saving totaled more than I was spending. I figure the second kit can go on ebay, and make the second tool really free or close. I also picked up a few other small-ticket items like a tool box for less than $5.00, a 100-piece drill-and-driver set for under $10, and four poinsettia plants for 99¢ each. The upside of my Home Depot visit was that I got some great deals -- the bad side is I lost some excuses for jobs that need doing around the house...

On the way home I stopped at a local Staples where I'd stood on line last year for a Navigon GPS (and was happy I did). By the time I got there today the store had been open thirty minutes, but most of the Black Friday items were still available. I got a fax machine they were selling at $59.99 with a $50.00 rebate (hey, I needed a new fax machine anyway, so getting one for $10.00 strikes me as a good deal, an external hard drive reduced by over 50%, and some blank DVDs that went from $26.98 down to $4.98 after a sale price with a rebate tacked on. I also picked up Norton Internet Security that will be free-after-rebate (never pay for security software, just time your new purchases right and you can get them free). I had asked a manager a couple of times for locations of some items, and I must have treated her nicely because all of a sudden she brought me a 7" digital picture frame with a wood frame that had been the hot seller of the morning for $49.99 with a $10.00 rebate. They had flown off the shelves but she said she had found the last one in the back so she offered it to me if I wanted to buy it. So I ended up getting the hottest item even though I hadn't been on line there are 6:00 am when they opened...

Well, I hope I did my part to help jump-start the economy!

Ebates User? Double Your Rewards Today Only

For on-line shopping, I've mentioned ebates a few times as a way to get back a percentage of your purchases when you shop at many stores on-line. These savings can add up (I just got back a nice check for some buys I made over the last few months).

Last year I took advantage after Thanksgiving when they doubled their reward bonus for a day -- in some cases the cash back got up to 55%.

Well, today ebates is doing it again, doubling the amount they credit back to your account. All you have to do is go through ebates.com to get to the store -- once you're in the store it's just like having gone directly to their website. For more details on ebates (and how to sign up free if you're not yet registered), click this link to my post on them.

Save 30% on Ebay Purchases Today

A while ago I posted about a way to save 30% at ebay by getting there by search at a live.com portal. The percentage had dropped since then to 25% but apparently for Black Friday they've upped the amount back to 30% once again.

Basically, you get a cashback credit from Microsoft on items you purchase via Buy-It-Now and then pay with Paypal. They put the cashback amount back into your paypal account (I think you can choose to get a check or direct deposit as well) after 60 days. You can get back up to $250 a transaction. So if you were buying an item today that costs $500 on ebay using Buy-It-Now, Microsoft would give you back $150, making your net cost a much lower $350.

That's a nice way to add to savings you might find with a nice deal at ebay. I'm presuming this bump-up back to 30% is today only (they have some other special cashback deals today) but it's not announced anywhere.

For the details on how to activate an ebay Microsoft cashback transaction, read my prior post for more complete details.

1,000 Posts -- Happy Thanksgiving!

What a nice day to write my 1,000th post!

I hope you get a chance to take some time today to slow down for a moment and take in your own reasons to give thanks. Sure the shopping for deals is fun (and I hope you've been able to take advantage of some of these to make your life a bit more efficient, productive or fun) -- but it's the time you get to enjoy and spend time with those you love and like that make it worth it, no?

So take a moment -- no, take three! Take stock, and realize there are more things for which to give thanks -- and more people for whom to give thanks -- than you realize in the day-to-day rushing around. So let yourself give those thanks and let yourself smile at it all.

Need a nice chunk of memory for your electronic device but want the versatility to be able to use it in new devices down the line? A microSDHC card with adapters gives you some choices. If your device takes full-size SDHC cards, you can place this micro card into an adapter that makes it useable in the device. And later, if you buy a device that needs a microSDHC card (or a miniSDHC size) you can use it without an adapter (or put it into the miniSDHC one). So you pick up that extra flexibility.

Kingston is a well-regarded brand of memory. And I've ordered numerous times from buy.com and always been pleased with the speed of shipping (even when using free budget service).

Megabus Giving Away 100,000 Free Bus Rides

A while back I wrote about Megabus and an amazing promotion where they were giving away 100,000 bus routes for free (you had to pay 50¢ for the reservation but that was whether you bought one seat, two or more). Well, they're back at it again!

Once again, they are offering to give away 100,000 seats on their buses early next year. This offer is valid for travel between January 14th and March 18th. For every route those dates, the first people to book won't pay a dime. Once the free seats fill up on each route, remaining seats will be offered at a huge discount -- starting at $1 each way.

You have to book the travel by November 28th, and enter GREENBUS in the spot for a promotion code.

Megabus serves states throughout the Northeast and upper Midwest. Among the cities they serve (the list is too long to include every one):
Atlantic City
Albany
Baltimore
Boston
Buffalo
Chicago
Cincinnati
Cleveland
Kansas City
Memphis
Minneapolis
New York City
Niagara Falls (Ontario)
Philadelphia
Rochester
St. Louis
Syracuse
Toronto
Washington, D.C

All Megabus coaches offer air conditioning, bathrooms, reclining seats and express service to each specified destination. Buses offer free Wi-Fi and video services too.

I'm sure these seats will be going fast, so if you are even thinking of a trip, you might want to hurry over to grab one of these freebies -- the most you have to lose is the 50¢ fee.

Here's the link to Megabus.

8" Digital Picture Frame $49.99

Looking for a photo frame for yourself to have at home or office, or maybe as a gift to put under someone's Christmas tree? Here's a nice price on a slightly larger frame. Buy.com is selling the Nextar N8-101 Digital Photo Frame for just $49.99. That would be a nice price for a 7" frame but it's even better for one that's got an 8" screen to let your photos be seen even bigger and better.

Not only does this support photos and slideshows in jpg format, but it will also support pictures you download in gif or bmp. But there's more -- it can also play your MP3 or wma music files as well as avi or mpeg-1 video files. So this frame is good for music and video as well as pictures.

It has a USB connection and also slots to accept the following cards loaded with your pictures, music and video: Secure Digital (SD) Card, MultiMediaCard (MMC), Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO. The frame also comes with a remote control.

To take a closer look and see if this frame would be a nice way to display your favorite photos with your favorite background music, click the picture below.

Airfare Sale on AirTran -- Book by November 20th -- Holiday Possibilities

AirTran is holding a sale on airfares booked over the next two days. The prices are attractive but I wanted to point this one out also because it may offer some options for people who want to travel over Christmas time. Many airfare blackout periods span from about December 19th through the end of the year, but the blackout dates on AirTran are a bit more scattered, so you might be able to use these lower airfares and travel for your Christmas needs.

Their blackout dates are as follows: December 20, 23-24, 26-28, and January 3-4, 2009. So you could still get these discounts flying the 22nd and fly back the 29th.

The sale covers travel completed by February 11, 2009. Lowest sale fares are valid for travel on Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Additional sale fares are valid for travel on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. 14-day advance purchase is required and tickets have to be issued by November 20th.

To check on airfare possibilities, click One-Way Flights from $45 on AirTran! (Expires 11/20/08) .

Restaurant.com Promo Code - 80% Off Till November 20th

Restaurant.com is back with another promotional code (thanks to a faithful reader for letting me know!) and it's only the second time I've seen them cut the cost of their certificates this low. Right now till Thursday, November 20th, the promotional code gets you 80% off at checkout. That means a $25.00 dining certificate, normally $10.00, is yours for just $2.00! And a $10 certificate, normally $3.00, is just 60¢!

Even at the regular prices, these certificates help stretch your dining-out dollars, but with this promo code they become amazing bargains!

And with the holiday season coming up, you can use restaurant.com for gift ideas and save with the promo code as well. You can purchase certificates to specific restaurants in someone's area to give as a gift. But you could also give certificates that the recipient can choose their own participating restaurant at restaurant.com. Plus, they also have a Dinner-of-the-Month club as another gift option -- in three-month, six-month and twelve-month options. Recipients get a certificate per month they can pick for their choice of participating restaurants. A three-month plan (three certificates worth a total of $75) is normally $30, so right now with the code this plan is a stocking-stuffer-worthy $6! A twelve-month package (normally $120) is cut to $24.

And with the Dinner-of-the-Month purchase, you get a bonus certificate for yourself too. If you buy a three-month plan, you get a $10 certificate. A six-month plan gets you a bonus $25 certificate, and a twelve-month plan gets you a $50 dining certificate as a bonus! (When you consider that a $50 certificate would normally cost $20 and the whole plan costs $24 right now with the certificate, it's almost like they're giving twelve months of dining for free). By the way, you can get the Dinner-of-the-Month club for yourself as well and get the bonus... that may be the best overall deal.

Okay, so that's a breakdown of some savings possibilities. The code, valid till 11:59 pm Thursday, November 20th, is SURPRISE. You enter the code at checkout, and then hit the "apply" key to see the discount in your shopping cart.

Click here to go to restaurant.com. Or click here to go to their dinner-of-the-month page.

Microsoft Live OneCare Free After Rebate (or Maybe Even Better Than Free)

If you use Windows and particularly Vista, and you'd like to add Microsoft Live OneCare to your system utilities, you can get it right now for free after rebate through Staples. It's possible that you can even get back more than you spent, depending on how Staples issues the rebate.

It's designed as an all-around PC protection tool, keeping your PC's internal workings in order while helping protect it from security threats from the outside.

This utility software:
- blocks and removes viruses, spyware, and blocks hackers
- runs automatic tune-ups keep your PC running efficiently
- protects up to 3 PC's
- does real-time virus and spyware protection
- performs routine maintenance, such as hard disk defragging

The software normally sells for $39.99, but until November 22nd Staples takes off $25.00 from the purchase price, making it just $14.99. And there's a $20.00 rebate for purchases made by April 18, 2009. It's unclear if Staples limits the rebate to the price you paid ($14.99) which would make the item free after rebate, or whether they are issuing checks for the full $20.00 regardless of the receipt amount -- in that case, you'd get back $5.01 more than you spent.

To check out this offer and see if this software is for you, click this link.

If you have travel plans that call for you to travel to New Orleans or to Salt Lake City, you may want to pay attention. If you live near New Orleans or Salt Lake City, you definitely want to pay attention.

Southwest Airlines has unleashed a couple of promotional codes that get you 50% off their "Wanna Get Away" fares either departing or arriving at one of these two cities.

The promotional codes (FLYMSY for New Orleans and FLYSLC for Salt Lake City) are valid if you book flights by November 18th. The travel dates for your flights must be between December 3rd through February 11th. However, December 18th through January 4th are blacked out from being part of any travel valid for this half-price discount. More information is available for each city at the Southwest Airlines website.

Here's the link for the New Orleans offer.

Transcend 8GB SDHC Card $14.99

Looking for a nice capacity SDHC card without laying out too much cash? Right now, amazon.com is selling the Transcend TS8GSDHC6E 8GB SDHC Card for just $14.99. The item qualifies for free shipping if part of an order over $25.00 so you can pick up a pair (or combine it with another eligible item) to qualify.

For a camcorder that uses SDHC cards, this is capable of recording 120 minutes of video. This card also comes in a "frustration free" packaging that's a lot easier to open than those molded plastic packages that have become all too ubiquitous.

There's one other way to save money in this deal. If you buy over $25.00 in electronics (i.e. if you bought two of these cards), you're also entitles to receive a free bonus subscription to Wired magazine ($10.00 value). However, under the offer details for the subscription there are instructions for how to get a $10 refund for the subscription, so it's like getting an extra $10.00 back. Read the details and follow them carefully to take advantage of this extra savings.

Please also remember that SDHC cards work only with SDHC-compliant devices, not older devices that just use SD cards.

And buy.com is offering this adapter kit on sale for $79.99, plus there's a $20.00 mail-in rebate bringing the net cost down to $59.99. Nextar P3 GPS at $69.99 with Free Shipping

If you're looking for a portable GPS without spending much, this is the lowest price I've seen. Newegg is selling the Nextar P3 3.5" GPS System with MP3 for the low price of $89.99. And they are offering free shipping in the deal as well.

This unit provides turn-by-turn directions, not text-to-speech -- it tells you the place to turn, not the name of the street onto which you're turning. But it has plenty of other GPS features, including 2D or 3D viewing, day or night modes, speed alert, 1.6 million points of interest, ability to store up to 300 addresses. Plus it can be used to play your MP3 tunes when not being used in GPS function. It's also a handy size that you can take when traveling so you don't need to get one from the rental car agency.

If you're looking for a GPS with the basic features and not many of the bells and whistles, you might want to take a look at this one. Maybe having a spare for the second car or just to get one for that rare trip when it'll come in handy without spending too much.

To check out the details, click this link.

Turn Your Spare Change into $10 Extra at Coinstar -- $50 Worth of Spending for $40 of Coins!

A while back I blogged about Coinstar having a promotion entitling you to a bonus $10 gift certificate at amazon.com if you converted $40 of change into an amazon.com certificate there (so you got a total of $50 credit for $40 worth of quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies -- even dollar coins). I took advantage of it and got my bonus certificate without any hassles.

Well, Coinstar has another promotion going, and this time it's not limited to amazon. Between now and December 7th, you can redeem $40 in coins for an e-certificate or prepaid gift card to use at one of several retailers, and you can send in your receipt for a bonus $10 gift card/certificate toward the same retailer.

The nice thing is that Coinstar doesn't charge any percentage fee when you redeem change into an e-certificate or prepaid card, so you get the full value of your spare change (if you convert it into cash, Coinstar charges a commission).

The stores/brands this year include: amazon, Starbucks, Circuit City, JC Penney, iTunes, Borders, Pier 1, Eddie Bauer, Cabela's, Disney Shopping, Old Navy, Lowes or AMC Movie Theatres. So you can pick the business where you think you'll get the biggest bang for your buck or the one you're sure you'll use most frequently.

The promotion is limited to one certificate/card per household.

This looks like a really great way to turn that bottle of spare change into some extra spending money. Or you can even use the gift card as one of your Christmas presents (and maybe use the bonus one as a gift to yourself). To check the details and conditions, or to look for a Coinstar location near you, click this link.

Coupon for 30% Off at The Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy - Valid through Sunday Nov. 16th

Looking for some clothes, for yourself or maybe lots of people on your Christmas list? Well, if you shop in store today or tomorrow at one of three popular stores, you can print out a coupon that gets you 30% off your purchase. It's valid at The Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy, expiring Sunday, November 16th.

The coupon can be printed multiple times so you can use it at each store if you want. It's for in-store use, not on-line. Gift card purchases aren't eligible for the discount.

But you can also feel good about this discount in another way: They're calling this promotion Give & Get, because for every purchase you make, they are donating 5% of the amount you spend to one of their nonprofit partners, CARE

Again, this coupon is only valid till tomorrow, so if you like these stores, this is a great opportunity to save some more of your hard-earned cash. To print out your coupon(s), click this link.

Restaurant.com Promo Code 70% Off -- $25 Dining Certficiate for $3!

The latest restaurant.com promotional code is out, and it gets you a nice 70% off the cost of a dining certificate. For those of you unfamiliar with restaurant.com, thousands of restaurants across the country participate and offer certificates valid for dining credit. Most of the dinner certificates get you $25 off the cost of your final bill, and usually cost $10 to buy. So with the promo code you can get them for just $3.00!

Some of the restaurants also offer $10 dining certificates, generally for use at lunch time -- those regularly cost $3 to purchase so right now you can get them for 90¢.

The certificates do come with some restrictions, such as needing to buy two entrees, or needing to have a $35 check to use the $25 certificate. The restrictions are restaurant-specific, and they aren't very difficult to reach easily, so these certificates really do work.

It's a great way to try some new restaurants, visit an old favorite more often, give your kids a chance to eat out while away at college, etc. Certificates are valid for a year, and can be used at any specific restaurant no more than once per month.

The current promotional code is DESSERT and is valid through November 17th. Make sure to hit the "apply" button after entering the promo code at checkout so you see the savings before you finish the transaction.

Some twinpacks are as low as $17.99, so you can actually get a twinpack shipped free along with the Creative software and papers for as low as $7.99. Of course, the price you get depends on the ink cartridge you need.

Keep in mind that this free Creative Pack offer is valid only if you order what's marked as a twinpack or a combo pack; it's not valid if you buy a quantity of two single cartridges. (Not all ink cartridges come in twinpacks or combo packs.)

But even if yours doesn't have twinpack or combo available but you still want to get the coupon savings and free shipping, that's still a good deal too!

Other Airfare Sale Options for Europe: Aer Lingus, Lufthansa

Also read my earlier post about airfare sales on British Airways if booked by November 13th.

A little while ago I posted about airfares to Europe on British Airways. They had some low fares, the possibility of a free stopover in London, and that fares to the non-London destinations were identical for each departure city. Those deals are quite good, but in doing a bit more looking, there are also special offers on Lufthansa and Aer Lingus. In some cases the British Air fares may be the lowest, but for some departure/destination combinations you could do better flying one of these other two carriers.

Keep in mind, you should compare the final price after all the airport/security fees since those can vary based on airports.

Lufthansa has fares as low as $197 each way from New York to London, and they have departures available from sixteen other U.S. cities. Besides London, destinations include Frankfurt, Madrid, Paris, Munich and Milan. Unlike the British Airways offer, each city pair has a different fare. In some cases you might be able to fly for less on Lufthansa.

For example, Seattle/London is available for $244, Seattle/Frankfurt for $268 and Seattle/Paris for $293, but the other Lufthansa destinations cost more than the same spots on British Air.

Likewise, Houston/Milan is available for $234, Houston/London for $241, Houston/Frankfurt for $256 and Houston/Munich for $288. But their Houston/Madrid ($315) and Houston/Paris ($348) is more than British Airways' $289.

These are one-way prices, and as mentioned the airport/security fees are additional.

And Travelocity is showing Aer Lingus with some special fares available as well. Some of them are higher than the British Airways and Lufthansa ones, but some others are really special and offer the best price.

For example, they show Chicago to Rome available at $381 roundtrip, compared to $558 roundtrip on British Airways. Chicago to Amsterdam roundtrip is $515 and to Paris is $521 on Aer Lingus but $558 on British. Yet British Airways is cheaper than Aer Lingus' prices for Chicago/Madrid or Chicago/Prague ($575).

Aer Lingus also has some great airfares if you want to visit Ireland, particularly from Washington, DC ($349 roundtrip).

The lowest airfares are weekdays, with weekend fares higher. The blackout dates for Aer Lingus are December 18th-25th; for Lufthansa it's December 12th-24th. Travel on Aer Lingus is through March 10th; for Lufthansa it's for departures through April 2nd.

Lufthansa must be booked by November 19th; Aer Lingus by November 30th.

I'm posting this to give you the most options if you're thinking of a trip to Europe. Depending on your departure point, you can compare these three (British, Lufthansa and Aer Lingus) and see how the numbers play out. As I mentioned, don't forget to check the comparisons after they've added in all the fees/taxes so you can see the real bottom-line prices.

Norwegian Cruise Line Sale -- 3-night Caribbean from $99

Looking to book a warm cruise to beat the early winter doldrums? But not looking to max out your vacation savings? CruisesOnly.com is offering some great prices on Norwegian Cruise Line trips, with some sailings as low as $99 for a three-night cruise!

The lowest price is for a Bahamas cruise aboard the Norwegian Sky (inside cabin) departing Miami December 5th or 12th. Other dates also have some low prices available, and there are low prices on other cabin categories too. An outside cabin for those dates is just $139, and the December 19th sailing shows balcony cabins for $199.

They also have a four-night Bahamas cruise starting at $109 (that might even be considered a better deal) for sailings December 1st or 8th. Outside cabins for these four-night sailings are just $129, less than for the three-nighters!

They also have a seven-night cruise special departing Charleston for the Bahamas and Florida for $229 inside or $249 outside cabin, for a November 29th sailing.

And there's a seven-night Mexican Riviera departing Los Angeles November 29th with outside cabins at just $349.

These are just some of the cruises and sailings available. These prices sure make it tempting for a quick getaway to some warm sun...

Weekday performances:

London from $396 Roundtrip; Great Fares to Other European Cities on British Airways -- Book by November 13th

Before booking, see also my post about airfares on Lufthansa and Aer Lingus. Sometimes British Airways is the best but in some cases you can do better on one of those.

British Airways is introducing the new London Heathrow Terminal 5 and has a fare sale from 18 U.S. cities to Europe starting as low as $198 each way to London from New York (JFK or Newark).

But the nice thing about this sale is that they also have great special fares to many other European highlight cities, and they're all priced the same -- so whether you're flying on to Milan, Budapest, Vienna, or Geneva it's calculated at the same price.

For example, from New York, you can get to any of their listed European destinations for $239 each way. That means you can pick the city to which you want to travel without worrying about the fare impact.

These special fares have to be booked by November 13th and are good for travel Nov. 18 - Dec. 17 and from Dec. 24 - March 22.

They have fares listed from eighteen different US departure points, including New York (JFK or Newark), Boston, Baltimore, Atlanta, Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Dallas, Philadelphia, Houston, Phoenix, Washington, D.C., Chicago and Seattle. The fares from the West Coast are really attractive when you consider the cost of just flying across the country.

This sale includes destinations that regularly see discounts, such as Paris, Frankfurt and Rome, as well as cities that aren't usually on sale -- Brussels, Geneva, Amsterdam, Budapest, Berlin and Vienna. And you can even add a stopover in London at no additional cost.

Some of the one-way fares to London and Europe:
- Boston: $213-$259
- Baltimore: $218-$249
- Atlanta: $261-$269
- Miami: $269-$310
- Los Angeles: $279-$307
- San Francisco $279-$307
- Phoenix: $281-$299
- Seattle $292-$299
- Houston: $289

These fares include fuel surcharges but airport/security fees/taxes are additional.

You can even save an extra $20 roundtrip off these low prices by registering and logging in at ba.com before you book.

Remember, these prices are only valid through bookings completed by tomorrow the 13th. To check out dates, destinations and prices, click here.

Restaurant.com Promo Code - 60% Off Plus Bonus $10 Gift Certificate

Well, it's time for the latest promotional code from Restaurant.com. They've proven to be one of the most popular deals with readers who've given me feedback. The restaurant.com certificates allow people to try new restaurants for a bargain, or visit some of their favorite spots a bit more often.

Their certificates usually sell for $10.00 getting you $25.00 in dining credit at a participating restaurant. Some of the restaurants also sell $10.00 dining certificates good at lunch times, which usually cost $3.00. But every so often they issue promotional codes that let you get the certificates for even less.

Until November 13th, you can apply promo code HARVEST during checkout -- that'll not only drop the price of your certificate by 60% but it'll also entitle you to a free $10.00 certificate as a bonus!

That means for $4.00 you can get a $25.00 certificate plus a $10.00 one. For $1.20, you can get two $10.00 certificates. The bonus certificate is per order, so if you're planning to buy more than one certificate, do it as a separate order to qualify for a bonus with each one. The bonus certificate information comes to you in an e-mail after your order is processed.

And one more way to save... if you use ebates.com as the portal to get to restaurant.com, you can get back 15% of what you spend as an ebates bonus. So for $4.00 spent at restaurant.com, you would get your $25.00 certificate, the $10 bonus certificate, and 60¢ back from ebates, making it a net of $3.40. If you haven't joined ebates, read my blog post about them by clicking the link in the left column about ebates.

All that dining credit for so little...

SpongeBob or Thomas the Train Humidifier Plus Free Filter $9.99

If you're looking for a humidifier for your child's room that gives him or her a bit of a smile, drugstore.com has a special deal going on right now. You can end up with a kid themed humidifier and a filter for just $9.99 plus shipping ($5.99). The retail price of the humidifier is $44.99 and the filter is normally $9.99, so this is a savings of over 80%.

Leather Carry-On Bag $12.00 with Free Shipping

Have some travels coming up on the future? Airlines, particularly international ones, have some strict limits on the size of carry-on bags. We're planning some discount travel on RyanAir soon and they're very specific about the size limitations. So I was looking for a bag that would be close to their size specifications, and came across a sale at Wilson Leather.

They have their Salerno line carry-on bag on sale for $20.00 (reduced from $40.00). Plus, right now there's a Friends and Family sale that gets you another 40% off, bringing the total down to just $12.00. And there's free shipping as part of the deal as well!

The Friends and Family 40% discount is valid through November 11th. The discount is automatic, no promo codes needed.

This carry-on bag features:
- Pebble leather with contrast trim
- Exterior zippered pocket on front, hide-away luggage tag on back
- 2 inline-style wheels
- Telescoping handle retracts flush with bag when not in use
- Top and side carry handles
- Interior elastic garment restraints
- Included key-operated padlock
- 14"W x 20"H x 7"D

They also have a number of other size bags on sale (matching 24" for $18 after discount and matching 28" for $24 after discount), but this carry-one was something particular that stood out.
For $12.00 delivered (plus sales tax), that's a pretty nice deal for a carry-on that will meet some of the stricter airline rules. If you want to take a look, click this link.
