Laptop Specials -- Compaq at Walmart $298.00; HP at BestBuy $399.99

I don't often post computer deals simply because of the variety of needs people have and the variety of configurations available. But for people looking for a full-featured laptop (as opposed to one of the smaller netbooks that have become available lately), here are a couple of deals you might want to consider. With kids going on to the next level of school, there may be some more needs to pick up a laptop at a good price.

Walmart is selling the Compaq Presario 15.4" CQ60-419WM Laptop PC with AMD Sempron SI-42 Processor for $298.00. I believe shipping is $7.97 if you can't find it in store (it doesn't look like this model qualifies for free ship-to-store for pick-up).

BestBuy is selling the HP G60-458DX Laptop with Intel® Pentium® Processor for $399.99. You can choose in-store pick-up or have it shipped for about $15.00.

Both of these have a lot of features that will meet many computing needs. Obviously given the price, the HP system is a bit more elaborate, with Intel® as opposed to AMD processor, larger RAM and hard-drive and a higher level of Vista. (Since Microsoft will soon be coming out with Windows 7 for upgrades, the starting level of Vista may be less important.)

At these price points, these two laptops may be worth checking out and comparing. Just click the links below.

If you're a fan of some TV shows, you know how frustrating it can be to have them interrupted by commercials. One way around that is to get the full seasons on DVDs rather than watch them in reruns. Those sets aren't always inexpensive though, but every so often y7ou can find nice deals. Right now at BestBuy, they have a selection of TV DVD sets priced at $12.99. The retail price on these range as high as $59.98 (Boston Legal), so you are saving as much as 78%.

For anyone who uses iTunes to pick up music, shows, podcasts etc., here's a bit of savings you can pick up. BestBuy.com is selling a three-pack of iTunes $10 gift cards for $25.00. That gets you $30.00 value for $25.00. Not a gigantic savings, but it does make your iTunes dollars go further.

BestBuy.com had these at the $25.00 price a few months ago but when I checked back a week or two later the price was up to $30.00 -- so this may be a special price offered just this week. They show as backordered right now, but you can still order them and get them shipped in a couple of weeks. There's no limit, so if you are a heavy user of iTunes you can order several.

Portable Disney CD Player for Kids on the Go $7.99

If you still use CDs rather than MP3s for your kids to listen to their favorite songs, Best Buy has a nice price on a Disney Cars Portable CD Player. It's designed to look and feel like one of Lightning McQueen's tires, so it'll make a great accessory for those long automobile trips. Right now, Best Buy has cut the price from $24.99 down to just $7.99.

This Disney device features:

Get All Six Seasons of "24" on DVD for $29

If you are into the action TV series "24," you can combine a nice deal at Best Buy with a coupon on the package and get all six season DVD sets for a total of $29. This is an amazing deal and hopefully your nearest Best Buy has them in stock.

Best Buy is offering the Special Edition Season One DVD set at a special price of $16.99. On the package there is a coupon that entitles you to get any other season for $15.00 off. The thing is, it's not limited to just one other season; it can be used for all five of the other seasons, for a total of $75 off all five.

That would enable you to stock up on six seasons for an incredibly low $29!

This six-season deal is only in stores.

Online, you can combine the Season One DVD with your choice of any one other season at $15 off the $16.99 price -- that makes the total for two series just $18.98 plus shipping. Not as good as the in-store deal but you don't have to drive around and hope you find them in the store.

Both deals are nice... if you want to see the one on-line, click here.

SanDisk Sansa Clip 2GB MP3 Player $34.99 in Red, Pink or Black!

Best Buy is offering their Black Friday price online for these MP3 players right now. Yesterday you had to go to the store and wait on line to get one at $34.99, but now you can order them for shipment (about $7) or order them to be picked up in the store.

These 2GB units get good reviews, and the choice of colors can make them a great little gift idea with the Holidays coming up.

I'm not sure how long this special price will stay, so if you're interested, I'd check on this quickly.

A great price... music to my ears!

Couple of Furniture Deals: Free Massaging Recliner when You Buy a TV; Nice Sectional Unit Priced Way Down

For someone looking to bring some new furniture into their home, here are a couple of items that might be worth noting:

Best Buy has an offer going on to include a free massaging recliner with ottoman free with a TV purchase over $999. This applies to a number of TVs they have on the site so you can find the one that makes sense for you, if you're upgrading to HDTV or anything. It doesn't preclude TVs that the prices are already on special, so you can combine a great deal at this retailer with the bonus and get that much more for your money. The massage chair with ottoman retails for $399 so this is a nice bonus.

The link to the offer is here.

If you're looking for some more encompassing furniture for your TV room, Overstock has a 7-piece leather sectional set with reclining seats which would list for over $4,000 now slashed down to $1,649.99 ($200 off their previous bargain price). It's made to complement home theater set-ups, so take a look if you happen to be interested...

Here's the link.

Either one of these deals let's you sit back and relax, counting up all the nice little dollars you saved.

Vista Laptop w/ Vista Home Premium & 1Gb RAM on sale $449.99

If you happen to be in the market for a new PC, this is a sale I just ran across that strikes me worth mentioning. Best Buy has a Compaq laptop on sale for $449.99 starting today. It's preloaded with Vista Home Premium and 1Gb RAM -- laptops I've previously seen anywhere near this price range had Vista Basic and 512Mb RAM (ones with Premium/1Gb were always in the $599+ range). Here's the link if you want to look.
