If you're looking for a short getaway not far from home, you can get a great deal now at Southwest. They have select one-way Fares for $39,00 for travel between Match 15ht and May 25th. (There are the typical added security/airport fees and taxes too).

They offer a variety of short-haul destinations from departure cities around the U.S. The lowest prices are not valid on Fridays or Sundays. These fares must be booked by February 11th.

AirTran Sale -- One-Way Fares from $39, Book by January 14th for Travel through March 26th

AirTran is starting off the new year by lowering fares on their routes, starting as low as $39 each way. You can even get Los Angeles to New York for $89.

Lowest fares are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Travel is good through March 26th and these have to be booked by the 14th of January (10-day advance purchase). Blackout Dates are February 12, 13, 15, 20, 21.

Have travel plans coming up now through early March? Then you may want to hop over to Virgin's website where they are showing a "Bubbly Low Fares for a Happy New Year" Sale with fares starting at $39.00 each way.

JetBlue Airfare Sale -- From $29 Each Way

JetBlue is starting the New year off with some nice discounts on airfare if you're traveling during January and February (and for some destinations into March). One-way fares start as low as $29.00, plus those security taxes and airport fees that get tacked on.

They have all sorts of routes on sale, short-haul as well as cross-country, plus some to the Caribbean and Mexico.

Cross-country flights can be had for $99.00 each way, and New York to Florida is doable for $74.00 each way.

The specific dates vary based on destinations, and there are discounts on fares every day but Friday and Sunday, with the lowest fares good on Tuesday and Wednesday flights. There are some blackout dates during February, primarily when you'd expect some schools to be on winter break.

But if you have some travel plans coming up, it might be worthwhile checking out. These have to be booked by January 13th.

Virgin America Airfare Sale - West Coast Fares from $39 or Cross-Country from $99 Each Way

Travelzoo's newsletter has an item about Virgin America reduceing West Coast flights to $39.00 each way, and cross-country routes to $99.00 each way.

As an added bonus, Virgin is throwing in free Wi-Fi for all passengers on flights through January 15th.

The sale is valid for Monday-Thursday and Saturday departures December 25th - January 31st. Friday and Sunday departures start at $10-$20 more (each way). And there are savings even after January: Travel all the way through June 20th for just $10.00 more.

Spirit Airlines -- Roundtrips as Low as $18 for $9 Fare Club Members ($58 for Non-Members)

Spirit Airlines has unveiled another set of bargain airfares for specific routes on specific dates. If you're a member of their $9 Fare Club and can get the departure/return dates to match up with sale dates, you could get a roundtrip as low as $18.00. The airfares for non-members would add up to $58, so joining their Club could make sense if you might take several flights a year -- membership is $39.95 annually so you would have saved that on your first roundtrip under this special).

There are a bunch of other airfares at $16.00 each way ($36.00 for non-members), so you may want to check out their list of dates and destinations.

Some of the $9.00 one-way fares include:
Boston to Atlantic City: 1/17, 1/19, 1/20, 1/28
Atlantic City to Boston: 1/26, 1/27, 1/28, 1/29

Spirit Airlines -- As Low As $16 Roundtrips for $9 Fare Club Members ($56 for Non-Members)

Veteran blog readers have seen previous posts about Spirit Airlines, but some new readers may not have heard about them. It's a discount airline that serves mainly the eastern US and some of Central America, although it includes some Midwest cities and even Western places like Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Every so often, they offer sharply discounted airfares on certain routes for flights on specific dates. If you can get those dates to match up, you can get a real bargain roundtrip.

A few years ago when they had an incredible offer, I was able to book us two 2¢ roundtrip airfares from Atlantic City to Las Vegas. I haven't seen those insanely low offers lately, but there are still bargains that may fit a fun getaway or a quick visit to see some family.

Today and tomorrow, for instance, some airfares are as low as $8.00 each way on certain dates early in the new year. The lowest fare prices are available to members of Spirit's $9 Fare Club (I believe membership is $39.95 a year) or usually cost $20.00 more for non-members.

The fares don't include the airport/security surcharges that get tacked on to all airline tickets nowadays. These special prices have to be booked by the end of tomorrow, December 17th (although they may sell out so you should check sooner).

Alaska Airlines Special Fares from $29 Each Way -- Many Don't Involve Alaska at All

If you have travel needs early in 2010, you may want to take a look at the current sale being offered by Alaska Airlines. Travelzoo reports that all of its U.S., Canada, and Mexico routes are discounted, with flights starting at just $29 each way. Many fares are over $100 off other airlines' current prices.

JetBlue "Sample Sale" -- Book Today Only (Nov. 19th) -- One-Way Fares from $29

JetBlue is having another one of their "sample sales" today only, with low fares for early December as well as January flights (unfortunately the days closest to Christmas travel aren't included). They have their one-way flights priced from $29.00 to $129.00, plus applicable security/airport fees.

These sale fares are available for purchase on November 19, 2009 only, between 12:01 a.m. MDT to 11:59 p.m. MDT. Sale fares are valid for travel December 2 – December 16, 2009 and January 6 – January 28, 2010. Blackout dates and day-of-week restrictions apply.

All sale fares are valid in both directions, except for fares to Barbados; Cancun; Santo Domingo; Saint Lucia, which are valid for U.S.-originating travel only.

Free Flights within Asia (Book Today Nov 15th, Fly May-October 2010)

I just found this deal and it expires today. It may not apply to a lot of people but I just sent it to a friend posted in Vietnam for a year. Air Asia is giving away free flights to/from many of the Asian cities to which they fly. The free flights are valid from May 1st to October 30th, 2010. (I think airport taxes and fees apply but these will still end up incredibly inexpensive.)

This isn't for flights from the U.S. to Asia, but rather for travel within Asia. Cities included are such as Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Johor Bahru, Phuket, Penang, Jakarta, Bandung, Bali and more.

Southwest Airlines Sale -- from $25.00 per Flight

Have any travel plans coming up for early December or January through early February? If so, you may want to check out the sale at Southwest Airlines right now. They have fares from as low as $25.00 each way for travel between December 2nd and 16th and from January 5th to February 10th.

The fares are based on the distance you fly. Flights up to 374 miles are $25.00. 375-549 miles go for $50.00, and 550-999 miles are $75.00. Anything over 1000 miles goes for $100.

Travelzoo has posted an airfare sale being offered by Virgin America with fares on all routes for $40.00-$100.00 each way including cross-country flights.

Travel is valid on Tuesday-Thursday and Saturday flights through March 10th (some holiday blackout dates apply). Friday, Sunday and Monday departures are $20.00 more. Tiokets have to be booked by October 27th.

Fly on Halloween for $31 Anywhere in the U.S. on Halloween -- Book Today

If you have any reason to be traveling on October 31st, this sale from JetBlue takes some of the fright out of paying for the Halloween ticket. Today only, you can book any flight in the U.S. which departs after noon local time for the low price of $31.00.

The conditions are: Travel must be booked by October 20, 2009, 11:59 PM MT. Travel must take place on Saturday, October 31, 2009. Valid on all nonstop U.S. originating routes that depart after 12 noon, local time on October 31, 2009. Travel must be completed by 11:59 PM, local time on October 31, 2009.

The $31.00 doesn't include those added airport/security fees. But still, if you were planning to travel that day for any reason, this could save you a nice bundle, especially on a long-haul route.

JetBlue "Sample Sale" -- Book Today Only (Oct. 15th) -- One-Way Fares from $24 to $99

JetBlue is having a fare sale going on for people who can take quick action. Tickets have to be booked today, October 15th (by 11:59 MDT), for travel between October 22nd and December 16th.

One way flights are available from $24-$99 (plus applicable security/airport fees. Sale fares to/from Florida are valid for travel on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for southbound travel, and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for northbound travel. Sale fares to all other destinations are valid on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Spirit Airlines has unveiled another of its fare specials, if you can book by tomorrow, September 30th -- although the sooner the better as some flights will sell out the specially priced seats quickly. Some tickets are as low as $9.00 each way for $9 Fare Club Members (plus security/airport taxes/fees).

Veteran blog readers know that Spirit offers big discounts occasionally on certain routes on specific travel dates. If you can get the departing and returning dates to line up, you can get a bargain roundtrip.

The best fares are for members of their $9 Fare Club. Basically the cost of an annual membership would get recouped if you book a roundtrip on special dates (since non-member fares are $20.00 additional.

Most of their flights are for Eastern U.S. travel (although they do also go to Los Angeles and Las Vegas. They also fly from Fort Lauderdale to various spots throughout Central America and South America.

Two-for-One Vacations to Las Vegas or Orlando from Southwest

If you are looking to make a getaway to Vegas or Orlando, you can shave the costs with a two-for-one offer currently running at Southwest Airlines. Every second person flies free when you book a flight and hotel package to Las Vegas or Orlando. Usually fare sales like this are for a specific travel period, but I've looked through the terms and conditions and I have seen no travel period specified, so this may be a great time for future planning. Their fares are lowest for departures Monday-Thursday and Saturday.

You have to book these fares by September 14th.

JetBlue flights feature leather seating, unlimited snacks and 36 channels of free DirecTV. The airline's new cabin configuration on all of its A320 jets provides more legroom than other airlines' coach cabins. Plus, the first checked bag is free on all JetBlue flights.
