Free Admission to All National Parks on Three Summer Weekends

If you have travel plans this summer that bring you to or near a National Park (or if you happen to live near one), there's a nice deal coming up that may let you enjoy the splendor of nature and our country's history while preserving your wallet a bit.

The National Park Service has announced announced Tuesday that entrance fees at 147 national parks and monuments — including the Grand Canyon and Yosemite — will be waived on three weekends this summer, one in each month. The weekends are June 20th and 21st, July 18th and 19th and August 15th and 16th.

A total of 147 parks and monuments charge entrance fees ranging from $3.00 to $25.00, so these free weekends could mean a nice bunch of savings for a family traveling together. There are also 244 other National Parks and monuments that are already free on a regular basis.

AirTran Sale -- One-Way Fares from $39

If you have some travel plans along the eastern part of the U.S., now might be a good time to check out AirTran. They have a sale going on with flights between cities on or near the East Coast starting as low as $39.00 each way.

For example, Boston to Baltimore is $39.00, as is Atlanta to Charleston or Charlotte. There are deals involving many departure cities so there are probably more $39.00 combos out there, and many other cities for just a few bucks more.

These prices don't include those airport/security fees and taxes. Tickets have to be purchased by tomorrow, June 4th. Travel is valid through October 30th with the following blackout dates: June 26-28; and July 2, 3, 5 and 6, 2009. The lowest fares are for flights on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

To check out all the prices on special from your nearest departure city, click this link.

If you love coffee and have one of the pod-type of coffee brewers, you may want to check out Amazon.com's current offer on coffee pods by Wolfgang Puck. They are selling three-packs of 18-count boxes for either $12.55 or $13.19, depending on the blend you select. That's 54 pods for about $13.00, a savings of over 50%.

If you pick up two of these (a total of six packs), your order will be over $25.00 and thus qualify for free super saver shipping. Or you could just add a different qualifying item that brings your order over the $25.00 limit and get them shipped free.

There is a wide variety of flavors/blends available. I'm not sure how long this sale lasts, so coffee lovers may want to check this one out soon. Click Wolfgang Puck Coffee Pods.

Free Donut with Purchase of Any Beverage at Dunkin' Donuts Friday, June 5th

It's not quite as good as the deal I just posted about Krispy Kreme -- their free donut offer this Friday is completely free with no other purchase -- but if you have a Dunkin' Donuts nearby and not a Krispy Kreme store, you can still get some of the celebration of National Doughnut Day.

On June 5th, participating Dunkin' Donuts restaurants throughout the country will give every customer a free donut of their choice, with the purchase of any beverage, limit one per customer.

To read their press release telling all about the offer and about National Doughnut Day, click this link.

Free Krispy Kreme Donut Friday, June 5th

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. knows how to celebrate National Doughnut Day -- on Friday, June 5, participating Krispy Kreme stores will give away a free doughnut to all its customers.

No purchase is necessary and the offer is good for one donut per customer. So you'll want to bring your family and friends to make it one very sweet deal. To read all about the deal or to find a participating store near you, click this link.

Restaurant.com Promo Code - 50% Off All Orders Through June 4th

It's the start of a month, and readers who've followed my blog posts about Restaurant.com know that there will be bigger promo code offers later in the month. However, for anyone who wants to get some extra savings to dine out the next few nights, or for someone who wants to get a certificate to one of those hotter restaurants whose certificates always sell out quickly, here's a promo code that gets you an additional half off on their dining certificates.

With this code, instead of paying $10.00 for a $25.00 dining certificate at most participating restaurants, you'll only need to pay $5.00. That's a nice amount of dining credit for a fiver.

Later in the month you'll probably see codes for 60%, 70% and maybe up to 80% so there will be nicer savings to come. But I still wanted to post this if timing is of the essence right now or you want to make sure you hit a hot spot.

The promo code to enter during checkout is ENTREE and it's valid until the 4th of June. Click this link to go to Restaurant.com and use ENTREE for 50% off.

Buy One Get One Free -- All-Day Adventure Pass at The Downtown Aquarium in Houston

For my friends and readers in Houston and anyone planning to visit there, here's a nice deal on a popular attraction. The Downtown Aquarium has a printable coupon for a free All-Day Adventure Pass when you buy one at the regular price of 15.99. These passes include unlimited rides and all-day access to the exhibits.

Among the features you can visit are Shark Voyage, Aquarium Adventure Exhibit, Ferris Wheel, Carousel and Lighthouse Dive. The 500,000-gallon under-water adventure complex also includes a white tiger exhibit and a restaurant where you can eat while watching fish swim nearby.

To give you a sense of the savings, here are the regular prices for admission and rides:
Aquarium Adventure Exhibit
Adults: $9.25
Seniors (65+): $8.25
Children (2-12): $6.25
Children (under 2): Free

Rides
Shark Voyage: $4.99
Diving Bell Ferris Wheel: $3.99
Aquatic Carousel: $2.99
Lighthouse Dive: $2.99

So two adults would already save with the pass just on the Aquarium admission alone. For an adult bringing a child, the savings would be in all the ride prices (and if your child really enjoyed a particular ride they could go back again without you worrying about your wallet).

Free Sample of Luna Soap

Soap is one of those things that you'll always need around the house, so if you can pick some up for free, you can save before the next time you need to stock up. Right now, Luna Soap is offering a free sample -- all you need to do is send them an e-mail using the link they have at their site.

They create hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind artisan soaps using only natural-source ingredients such as healing honey, pure olive oil, and fresh goats' milk, along with organic oats, almonds and essential oils. There are no harsh chemicals or synthetic fillers in their soaps.

They have three types: Harvest Moon, Honey-Moon and Second Honey-Moon. The site doesn't specify whether you can request a specific one as a sample, but I guess it can't hurt to ask in your e-mail. The e-mail link is just below the first paragraph on the page.

Click this link to read more about the soaps and make your request.

Free Subscription to Lighting & Sound America Magazine

This is a magazine for a limited niche, but since I'm involved with theatre and know that some of my readers probably are as well, I figured it's worth posting. Lighting & Sound America magazine is offering free subscriptions just by registering for one at their website.

This is a monthly publication for lighting, sound, and staging professionals working in theatre, touring, industrials, corporate A/V, houses of worship, themed entertainment, retail, and much more.

If this happens to be an area of interest for you and you'd like to register for a complimentary subscription, click this link.

I'm not sure if this is a regular offer of for a limited time so if it's at all of interest, I would take advantage soon.

Free Barcode Art Postcard

This is an unusual little freebie. Artist Scott Blake is offering to send you one of his Barcode Art Postcards for free.

As you could probably tell, he uses barcodes to create original pieces, especially portraits of famous people. His work has been covered in the New York Times, FHM, and Adbusters magazine and he says he was interviewed on ABC World News Tonight and Tech TV.

You can choose from any one of twelve faces/designs: Jesus, Oprah Winfrey, Andy Warhol, Bill Gates, Ronald Reagan, Bruce Lee, Madonna, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Charles Manson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ozzy Osbourne or the HELLO My Barcode Is... postcard.

You could use these for fun, or if you happen to like one of these celebrities find a small frame and hang it for some instant free artwork.

All you have to do is e-mail him at scott@barcodeart.com and give your name, street address with city, state/province, postal zip code, and country. He'll send them anywhere in the world -- free!

To take a look at his artwork and make your choice of card a bit easier, click this link.

Free Park Lane Jewelry

I have to confess I never heard of Park Lane Jewelry before now. Perhaps many of you haven't either. They use representatives to throw in-home parties to display the merchandise and make sales -- sort of like Tupperware parties for jewelry.

They are looking for people who might want to be representatives and do this kind of selling, and have a survey on their website asking a variety of questions. In response, they will send you a free sample of Park Lane jewelry.

There is no obligation to become one of their reps, and you can choose whether or not to receive further information from them. But the free jewelry is yours to keep, or maybe to give to that daughter, niece, granddaughter etc.

To take a look at the survey and make your request for free jewelry, click here.

Free 2009 Entertainment Book When Your Reserve the 2010 Book Now

I've written about the Entertainment Book as a great source for savings. There are coupons and discounts for many restaurants and restaurant chains; discounts on entertainment outlets like movies, amusement parks, bowling and the like; discounts on services such as dry cleaning, car washes and such; savings on hotels and airfare, and more ways.

One of the things that makes them handy is they have books locally targeted to many of the larger areas around the country, so you can usually find a book filled with coupons you can use near home. The savings can really add up quickly and over the course of a year be worth many times the cost of the book.

And now you can get even a greater deal on savings. During the month of June, if you reserve your 2010 Entertainment Book they will also send you the 2009 Book for free! Since most of the coupons are good through November, that means you get almost six months of savings -- particularly during the summer months when you may tend to go out and use some of these coupons or travel services more.

So in addition to getting the full year of savings from the 2010 Book when it arrives, you'll be picking up another half-year of deals for free. So you get to save now, and using coupons you get to save later too. To check out your nearest book and take advantage of the promotion, click the link below.
