Great Deal to Join Spirit Airline's $9 Fare Club -- Bonus $40 Voucher

If you've read my blog for some time, you know I've written about Spirit Airlines a few times. They regualrly have promotions with some amazing airfares available. In fact, one of the reasons I started my blog was that friends enjoyed hearing how my wife and I flew roundtrip on Spirit from Atlantic City to Las Vegas for just two cents! (plus taxes/airport fees)

Their best fares are available to members of their $9 Fare Club. And right now till January 31st, they have a promotion going on that gives you a $40 voucher toward a future flight for joining the club. Annual membership is $39.95, so it's as if they're giving you back the membership fee as long as you book one fare.the chance to get a great fare down the line.

About three or four times a month they come out with promotional airfares good for specific routes and specific dates -- they have $9 flights each way from some cities but there are times when some routes are $1 each way or even less. Those flights are available to non-club members but at higher cost, so having a membership gets you the best price (a single roundtrip saves you the cost of an annual membership).

For people who live in/near Fort Lauderdale or Myrtle Beach, the flight choices are so many that it's almost a no-brainer to take advantage of this offer. For people in Boston, New York, Atlantic City or Washington DC who like to go to Florida or Myrtle Beach with any frequency it's also something tyhat could let you take trips more often at a bargain. The same for people in Detroit who like to go to Florida, New York or Los Angeles.

The $9 Fare Club also gets you an automatic $9 off any airfare you book even when they're not on sale. But the best reason to hop on board is the chance to score some of the ridiculously low fares during some of their promotions. Just even to get away to Florida for a qucik two-day getaway in the winter months for the heck of it without draining your budget.

The promotion is fairly easy, just register your email address at their website before 11:59 PM EST on 1/31/2009. Then enroll in an annual $9 Fare Club membership using the same email address before 11:59 PM EST on 1/31/2009. On or about 4/1/2009, for those who qualify for the promotion, Spirit will send a $40.00 voucher to the email address used to register.

Well, a 1TB system would give you enough space for now and even as PC memory needs expand down the line. Buy.com is currently selling the Fantom 1TB FD G-Force Hard Drive for $119.99, already a nice price. But for purchases by January 4th they also have a $30.00 mail-in rebate. Shipping is free, so that all brings your net cost down to a low $89.99 -- for 1 Terabyte of storage!

- Data Buffer Cache: 16MB
- Access Time: 8.5ms
- Drive RPM: 7200
- Bus Transfer Rate (Max): 60 MB/S (USB), 300MB/S (eSATA)
- OS Support: Windows 98SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS 10.2 or higher

Now, memory prices are sure to keep falling as they have (compare what you pay now for an 8GB USB drive to what you used to pay for 1GB a couple of years ago), but having a hard drive now and backing up your data might save you a lot of hassles if you encounter PC problems that jeopardize your system and data. And this amount of memory for under $90.00 may just be the point at which it's worth jumping in. To take a look at the drive and the details, click the picture below.

Restaurant.com Code for 80% Off Plus Bonus $25 Certificate with $11 Purchase

Update December 30th -- Heard from one of my readers that he had placed an order for a 12-month Dinner-of-the-Month service (usually $120) for $24 and he expected to get the one $25 bonus certificate since the order was over $11. But his e-mail said he's getting a $50 gift certificate! So it's possible they're giving a $25 certificate for every $11 in an order, even better than what I thought the deal was.

This is about as good as it gets when it comes to dining bargains. The folks at Restaurant.com have unleashed their last promotional code for 2008. It's good till December 31st and it gets you a whopping 80% off their dining certificates. But even better, if your order totals $11.00 or more, they'll add a bonus $25.00 certificate to your account!

When you consider that the regular price for a $25.00 certificate is $10.00, you see that it's as if all your other certificates are virtually free.

With the promo code, $25.00 certificates are reduced from $10.00 to just $2.00 apiece. And their $10.00 certificates are chopped from $3.00 down to an absurdly low 60¢. Dinner-of-the-Month Club services are also covered by the 80% off code. The code to apply at checkout is CELEBRATE.

So with the sale plus the bonus, for $12.00 you can receive a total of 7 $25.00 certificates (regular price $70.00), entitling you to a generous total of $175.00 in dining credits at participating restaurants. That can really make your money go a long way.

For those of you who haven't heard of Restaurant.com, read some of my earlier blog posts that explain how it works.

Spirit Airlines $1 Fares Available Today

Spirit Airlines has a sale going on today for many of their routes, where members of their $9 Fare Club can get flights on specific dates for as low as $1 each way. many other cities are just a couple of bucks more. If you're not a club member, the fare sale is still worth checking out, if, say, you want to go roundtrip from New York to Florida for $44 (if you can match the dates coming and going).

But if you're going to book travel here, since annual club membership is $39.95, you can basically get the lower club fare and membership for the cost of a non-member roundtrip.

These fares are only on sale till 11:59 pm on December 19th, so if you want to check out any possible travel you want to do it posthaste.

For those of you who haven't heard of Spirit, they're a discount airlines whom I flew to Las Vegas roundtrip for two cents! The service was fine; you just had to pay for services ala carte, i.e. pay for beverages, pay for a checked bag etc. That was in the days when the major airlines weren't doing that, so it seemed the discount was the price you paid for the lesser free services on board. But now that most airlines are tacking on all of the same fees, there doesn't seem to be as much difference.

The city-pairs for which they have $1 fares (or $21 non-member) include:
Atlanta - Fort Lauderdale
New York (LaGuardia) - Detroit
Orlando - San Juan, Puerto Rico
Fort Lauderdale - Cartagena, Colombia
Fort Lauderdale - San Pedro Sula, Honduras

Other low-cost city pairs include (tack on $20 more for the non-club fare):
Atlantic City - Tampa: $2
Atlantic City - Fort Myers: $3
Atlantic City - West Palm Beach: $5
Atlantic City - Myrtle Beach: $7
Boston - Myrtle Beach: $5
Boston - Fort Lauderdale: $7
Columbia SC - Fort Lauderdale: $2
Detroit - Fort Lauderdale: $5
Detroit - Cancun: $9
New York (LaGuardia) - Fort Lauderdale: $2
New York (LaGuardia) - Myrtle Beach: $2
Washington DC - Fort Lauderdale: $7
Fort Lauderdale - Many Caribbean and Latin American cities: $2-$9

These fares don't include airport/security fees. To check out all the dates available and to try and score some of these tickets, click this link.
