I've posted a couple of times about using rebate strategies to keep your anti-virus and firewall protection current without having to shell out a lot. Currently, amazon.com has an offer for McAfee Total Protection 2009 licensed for up to three computers at $70.00, with a $70.00 mail-in rebate. It qualifies for super-saver shipping, so basically you get back the whole cost.
You can use this deal if you have used McAfee and want to update your software or extend your subscription -- the only users that might not qualify is if you already purchased and got a rebate on Total Protection earlier this year. If you're using a different version of McAfee and have a few months to go on your update subscription, you can get this now and install it at the end of your existing period to get a full new year.
If you prefer a competitor's software solution, often they also have free-after-rebate deals if you send in proof of ownership of a competitor's product -- so this would be one way of getting it free.
The rebate is valid for purchases until June 27th, so if you want to check this out, click McAfee Free After Rebate
