It uses one 9V battery (included) to generate the power. The small unit is great since you can use it almost anywhere and pack it for travels so you can relax with it after a long plane trip or car ride. It comes with pads you place on the muscle area you would like to work and has five levels of intensity so you can make it work as gently or firmly as needed.
