I've long maintained that keeping your PC defended against viruses, spyware etc. can be done at no cost if you pick up software times during free-after-rebate offers. Right now, Fry's is offering AVG Internet Security Family Edition (3-Users, 2-Year Subscription) for $80.00 with a pair of rebates (one of which is a competitive/upgrade offer) which total $80.00. Free shipping is included so that makes your bottom-line cost basically zero.
It's nice that some of the software providers are now including two years of updates rather than the one which was typical. I recently had BitDefender posted here with a free-after-rebate offer and theirs was two years as well. Plus, like many bits of software we're seeing lately, this is valid for putting on up to three PCs so you can protects your PC and the kids' too (all with one package making it easier to manage).
The shortest of the two rebates here expires August 27th, and if you have any other kind of security software installed, you can send it in as proof for the competitive section for the rebates.
As I've mentioned before, if you use a different manufacturer for PC protection (i.e. McAfee, Norton) you can also take advantage of this deal if you want to have this one available when one of those has a free after competitive rebate down the pike.
